In Joshua, the Bible describes one of the most powerful astronomical miracles of all time since the creation of the universe. In Joshua chapter 10, verses 12 to 14, the Bible describes Joshua praying that the sun and moon would stand still, so that he could win the battle against the enemies of Israel. In response, God actually listened to Joshua’s prayer, and literally stopped the sun and the moon in the sky.

The event in Joshua 10 was not a solar eclipse

Sadly, a couple years ago some pagan Israeli scientists have attempted to dismiss this event as merely a solar eclipse. This blasphemy against the Bible is totally refuted by the very words of the Bible. Whoever actually came up with that idea that it was merely an eclipse didn’t even bother to read the Bible, or even to think with the most basic logic, like how a solar eclipse would provide daylight for another whole day – a contradiction within itself.

The Bible described that literally the sun and the moon stopped in their tracks for an entire day, which gave Joshua enough daylight to win the battle, since Joshua had a full second day of daylight to fight. If it was simply a solar eclipse, then it would have been the exact opposite scenario – there would not have been enough sunlight, the complete opposite of the actual biblical scenario.

Joshua asked God to stop the Sun because Joshua needed more daylight to fully defeat the enemies in battle. It is angering when so-called scientists try to twist the Bible out of context in order to try to make the Bible conform to their beliefs, instead of conforming their beliefs to the Bible.

Again, if Joshua had prayed for God to make the sun stand still, do you really think that God would answer with an eclipse that was already going to happen? Seems like a massive coincidence for there just to happen to be an astronomical event the moment that Joshua prayed for the Sun to stop. And even if it were the case, it wouldn’t have been any answer to prayer, just a natural course of events.

Moreover, not only would an eclipse block OUT the sun, which would defeat the purpose, but an eclipse does not last a full day, but only minutes [Source]. The Bible says that it lasted for a whole day, not just minutes.

Also, do you really think that a 2-minute solar eclipse would be enough to win a battle? Do you really that that was the “answer to prayer” that God felt so important to list in His Bible as one of the most important events in human history? Of course not. Because it was not an eclipse. The ignorance of those so-called scientists is astounding.

That easily dismissed, let’s return to the sun stopping. According to today’s “science” which teaches a heliocentric solar system and a spinning earth, this biblical story would have to have said that Joshua stopped the EARTH, not the sun. Let’s get to that shortly.

Scientific truth in the Bible

Throughout the Bible, there is much scientific evidence which was unknown at the time of writing, but has only recently been proven. This includes that of the existence of atoms (Hebrews 11:3), the existence of bacteria, cleansed by running water (Leviticus 15:13), that the Earth sits in space upon nothing (Job 26:7), that the Earth is a sphere (Isaiah 40:22), and the Second Law of Thermodynamics (entropy), described in Isaiah 51:6, among many other verses which describe scientific knowledge that wasn’t learned until recently.

It is interesting to note that when the Bible describes scientific knowledge, it is not changed to cater to the understanding of the people. For example, when the Bible says that the Earth sits upon nothing in Job 26:7, God tells it exactly how it is, even though at the time, the people did not understand that the Earth was a globe sitting in empty space.

God could have reworded Job 26:7 just so that the people could understand better from their own perspective. For example, God could have said instead that God created the Earth below an empty sky. This would make sense from the observer’s viewpoint, because they were unable to see that the Earth is sitting upon nothing in space – they could only see that there was a sky above them, and they are sitting below the sky.

But God did not say it like that. God said it from His perspective – the Earth sits upon nothing, something that does not make sense from the human observer’s viewpoint. For example, “how does it sit upon nothing? I thought the sky is above us?” Yet God did not phrase it in a way that made sense to the human observer; instead, God phrased it literally in the way that is objectively true. This is because when God speaks truth, He does so objectively, and does not change truth to make sense to the human observers.

God does not speak relatively regarding truth

It is clear that when the Bible describes truth, it does not use relativism to word it in such a way that the human observers can make sense of what is going on from their own perspective. No, rather, God uses objective truth, from His own point of view, even though the humans did not yet understand what it meant, because their knowledge had not grown enough yet to understand things like atoms and a globe Earth sitting in empty space.

Therefore, the reading of Joshua where the “sun and moon stood still”, has to be taken as an objective observation from the perspective of God, not from the perspective of the people below.

All this is to address the point in which so-called scientists who teach a spinning earth would rather claim that it was not the sun which moved – because, they claim, the sun is fixed in the sky, and they say that it is only the Earth which spins, giving the illusion of the sun going up and the sun going down.

But the Bible does not teach things in such a convoluted way, speaking merely from the perspective of the human observers, or changing truth just so that the readers could make sense of it. When the Bible describes events, and when it describes knowledge, and truth, it describes objective truth, and it describes knowledge that goes beyond what the people could comprehend. To say that the Sun stood still for a day, if really the Earth is what stood still around a stationary Sun, would be objectively false. The Bible would be simply wrong, because if it is the EARTH which stood still, then the Sun did not stand still like the Bible says.

It is also worth noting that this is one of two times which the Bible describes God stopping or moving the Sun from its original course. The other time is with Hezekiah, who prayed that he would not die from an illness, and God answered his prayer and also gave him a sign – that the Sun would physically move backward 10 degrees. Scientific impossibility of God stopping the Earth (instead of the Sun)

However, the Bible is not wrong, and such can be proven by real science. If, as today’s fallacious scientists love to cite, the Earth is supposedly spinning at a massive speed of 1,037 mph (1,670 km/h), according to space.com, then this poses some major problems of physics that cannot be overlooked.

There is a massive problem with this, in which you have to choose one of two options: first, that the event never happened and the Bible is simply a fiction, the Sun never stood still in the sky – that is, that the Earth never stopped spinning. The other option you have is that the Earth is really not spinning, and the Bible was correct and accurate when it said that the Sun actually stood still.

What is this massive problem? Today’s science has discovered that humans cannot survive extreme acceleration and deceleration. Not just humans, but also all things on the Earth would be destroyed in an instant by the Earth grinding to a halt from over 1,000 mph to 0 instantly. If the Earth simply stopped spinning for a day, if in fact it was spinning at 1,000 mph in order to give some illusion that the Sun is going up and down; if it is really just a spinning Earth, then these massive G-forces due to extreme deceleration – and subsequent acceleration when supposedly God spun the “top” per-se again and spun up the Earth to 1,000 mph again – all humans would be instantly killed, along with all animals, birds, and fish.

Moreover, not only this, but there would be a massive tidal wave – a tsunami like the World has never seen – as miles deep ocean would turn into a giant wave revealing dry ground at the bottom of the ocean bed, which in effect would wipe out all land and erode the continents. The forces of the Earth would crack open the Earth causing tremendous earthquakes that would destroy any remaining structures. The air itself would become super-heated from the extreme friction – picture a pod coming in from space and getting heated red hot with fire due to air friction – except every molecule of air on the Earth would instantly become this hot and burn up and vaporize everything on the earth.

Massive trees would be snapped like twigs. Mountains would be torn down to rubble. Volcanoes all over the Earth would erupt from the massive forces and shifting of the land. The entire Earth would be engulfed in the most powerful 1,000 mph winds, of flame, and nothing would survive.

Did that happen? No. One would have to argue that God not only stopped the Earth, but supernaturally made everything survive and prevented all of nature from operating by the laws of physics. However, this is not how God works.

God allows the general laws of nature to continue to operate through events and judgment

If you think about it honestly, think about the Great Flood of Noah. Did God have to let the flood work the way it did? No. You might ask, why didn’t God just cause all the people of the Earth who were evil to simply cease to exist? Why did God allow a great event which totally conformed to the laws of nature that He created, why did He cause it to all conform to the laws of physics?

When God told Noah to build a boat to survive, how come God didn’t just magically make Noah survive? Why did Noah have to build a boat? The answer to all of these questions is that God allows the universe to operate according to the laws of physics and the laws of nature that God created, even through great events and judgments.

Even today, we suffer from the demonic presence, which I believe to be the spirits of the nephilim (human-angel hybrids), many or most of whom were probably killed during the Great Flood. How come God didn’t just eliminate all demons? How come He allowed these stray spirits to roam the Earth, possessing random people and causing havoc? The reason is because God doesn’t work in this way, God lets the Earth be bound to the natural consequences of nature.

Yes, sometimes God does miracles, but the consequences of these miracles are still allowed to occur. When the Great Flood occurred, God still saved all the animals by putting them on the boat with Noah, rather than just magically making them survive. The same would occur with the stopping of the Earth with such extreme acceleration and deceleration that it would nearly instantly destroy all life on Earth. God would then have probably asked Joshua to build a space ship! The miracle would be pointless, as stopping the EARTH for a day would also destroy the Earth, if indeed it were spinning at over 1,000 mph.

When God did the Great Flood, he allowed the laws of physics to work naturally. He initiated the event of breaking open the floods of the deep, and breaking open the sky of water to rain, but God used nature to allow it to take its course. God saved the animals and Noah and his family through a boat which floated on the surface, not through magical survival that defied any laws of physics.

Even when God will destroy the Earth and remake it, the Bible says that God will use fire to destroy it, instead of just causing it to cease to exist. God uses nature to do works in the world. When God stopped the Sun, He did so because there would not be consequences like there would have been if God decelerated a spinning Earth from rotating at 1,000 mph.

Moreover, if it would be such a major event to stop the EARTH, then God would have never answered such a prayer to stop the Earth or the Moon. However, the Bible NEVER says that God stopped the EARTH. Rather, the Bible says that God stopped the SUN.

God stopped the Sun, not the Earth.

God stopped the Sun, because it is the Sun which is moving. Stopping a fiery ball of flame is no big deal. Stopping a moon which has no atmosphere, and no life on it, and no great seas, is no big deal. God stopped these in space. God didn’t stop them from spinning at 1,000 mph, because the moon and the Sun do not spin. They revolve around the earth. (Technically, the moon is locked into tidal forces which keep the same side always facing us. It is the same force that causes our tides, in theory, anyway.)

Stopping a giant ball of flame (the Sun) in the middle of space, or stopping a dead rock (the Moon) in the middle of space, isn’t going to have consequences, since there is no life, and no atmosphere, on either. However, instantly decelerating and re-accelerating a planet like Earth from spinning at 1,000 mph has consequences that would utterly destroy all of the life that God created.

Therefore, the story of Joshua stopping the Sun is not actually describing the stopping of the Earth. Science disproves the possibility of the Earth grinding to a halt from 1,000 mph and anything surviving. Instead, the Bible is correct when it says that Joshua stopped the Sun from moving – not the Earth. This is because it is not the Earth which is spinning, because God created a stationary Earth with a Sun spinning around it as a light for our days.

Biblical evidences of a moving Sun and a stationary Earth

Again, Psalm 19 speaks clearly about a moving sun – not a moving Earth. Did God lie about the nature of the Sun’s movement in order to just cater to human perspective? No. God described the universe from His perspective, objectively. If the Sun was stationary, and the Earth moving, then the Bible would say that, instead of this clear description:

The Bible describes the Sun as having a circuit, in which it takes laps around the Earth. A moving, revolving sun. The Bible analogizes the Sun to a runner running a race. The Bible described very directly, a moving Sun. Never once does the Bible say that the Earth is moving. Not one time. But many times, the Bible described the Sun moving.

Not only that, but the Bible also very clearly describes the Earth as being FIXED and UNMOVING.

And now for 67 verses which speak of the SUN moving (not the Earth):

It is clear that the Bible teaches a stationary, unmoving globe (sphere) Earth, and a moving sun that revolves around the Earth. And Biblical events such as the stopping of the Sun in Joshua 10:12-14 and 2 Kings 20:9-11 could only even have happened if it is the Sun which moves, and not the Earth.

Consider this one last thought:

Why would you believe the liars teaching science about a fixed, unmoving Sun, and a spinning, moving Earth – which both directly contradict the Bible – if you don’t also believe them when they teach you that we evolved from rocks and lifeless atoms and the monkeys, and when they tell you that there is no God, or that God didn’t create the universe, it happened out of nothing with a Big Bang, or so many other godless lies?

Can you pick and choose from the liars, disbelieving when they say evolution or the Big Bang (both scientifically unproven, and even disproven), but then believing them when these same atheist Copernican liars also tell you that the Bible is wrong when the Bible tells us that the Earth is fixed and unmoving, but the sun is moving?
