Faith or Works? There Is No Faith Without Works

Works are not just the result of faith. Works ARE faith.

By faith, Noah built the ark (Hebrews 11:7).
By faith, Abraham obeyed God and went (Hebrews 11:8).

Both did works, because that was their faith.
Could you say that Noah had faith, if he did not build the ark? No.

“Faith without works is dead” (James 2:26).
“I will shew thee my faith by my works” (James 2:18).
“Ye see then how that by works a man is justified, and not by faith only” (James 2:24).

There is no separation. There is NO “faith alone”. James 2:24 says it clearly. If you do not have works, then you do not have faith. Is faith belief? No. Faith is works. Without works there is no faith or belief.

Who is the faithful servant? The one who says he will and does not? Or the one who says he will not but does? The faithful servant is the one who does, not the one who only says but does not do (see Matthew 21:29-31).

“Blessed is that servant, whom his lord when he cometh shall find so doing” (Matthew 24:46).

It is the one who is found doing who will be counted worthy, not the one found saying.

“Thou believest that there is one God; thou doest well: the devils also believe, and tremble. But wilt thou know, O vain man, that faith without works is dead?” (James 2:19-20).

If you do not have works, then you do not have faith.

If you want faith then you must have works. Because works are your faith. If you truly have faith, then you have works because there is no faith without works.

To the teachers who say that works are not necessary for salvation, they have a place prepared for them with the devils they follow. If you do not have works, you do not have faith, and without faith, there is no salvation. You are not “earning salvation”. By doing works, you are having faith, by your works. And we are saved through faith – by works. The Bible is clear.

In the end, it will be those who follow Christ – not merely who tag along, but those who suffer for Christ’s name, those who reject the world and go without, those whose plate runs dry and their souls long for what they have lost, because to follow Christ is to do works in abundance, to follow Christ is to be obedient, to follow Christ is to lose everything in this world in exchange for eternal life.

“If any man will come after me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross, and follow me.” (Matthew 16:24)
“because ye are not of the world, but I have chosen you out of the world, therefore the world hateth you.” (John 15:19)
“He that loveth his life shall lose it; and he that hateth his life in this world shall keep it unto life eternal.” (John 12:25)

Christ’s message is not about faith by thoughts. It’s about faith by obedience. Works are faith. You have faith by your works, not by your thoughts. Remember this, and do the will of God.
