Psalms 89

A contemplation of Ethan the Ezrahite.

89:1I shall sing of your mercies O lord into the eon. Unto generation and generation I shall report your truth with my mouth.

89:2For you said, Into the eon mercy shall be built up. Your truth shall be prepared in the heavens.

89:3I ordained a covenant with my chosen ones; I swore by an oath to David my servant.

89:4Unto the eon I shall prepare your seed, and I will build your throne unto generation and generation.

89:5The heavens shall acknowledge your wonders, O lord, and your truth in the assembly of the holy ones.

89:6For who in the clouds shall be equal to the lord; likened to the lord among the sons of God?

89:7God is being glorified in the counsel of holy ones; he is great and fearful over all the ones surrounding him.

89:8O lord, the God of the forces, who is likened to you? You are mighty, O lord, and your truth is round about you.

89:9You are master of the might of the sea; and the tossing about of its waves you soothe.

89:10You humbled the proud as slain; with the arm of your might you dispersed your enemies.

89:11The heavens are yours, and the earth is yours. The inhabitable world and its fullness you founded.

89:12The north and the west you created. Tabor and Hermon shall exult in your name.

89:13Your arm is with dominations. Let your hand be fortified! Let your right hand be raised up high!

89:14Righteousness and equity are the preparation of your throne; mercy and truth shall go forth before your face.

89:15Blessed are the people knowing the shout of joy. O lord, they shall go in the light of your face.

89:16And in your name they shall exult the entire day. And in your righteousness they shall be raised up high.

89:17For you are the boast of their power; and by your benevolence our horn shall be raised up high.

89:18For assistance is of the lord, and of the holy one of Israel, our king.

89:19Then you spoke in a vision to your sons, and said, I put help upon a mighty one; raising up high a chosen one from out of my people.

89:20I found David my servant. I anointed him with my holy oil.

89:21For my hand shall be an aid to him; and my arm shall strengthen him.

89:22The enemy shall not derive benefit by him; and the son of lawlessness shall not proceed to inflict evil on him.

89:23And I will cut down his enemies from in front of him; and the ones detesting him shall be put to flight.

89:24And my truth and my mercy are with him; and in my name his horn shall be raised up high.

89:25And I will set his hand in the sea, and his right hand in rivers.

89:26He shall call upon me, saying, You are my father, my God, and the shielder of my deliverance.

89:27And I will make him first-born, high above the kings of the earth.

89:28Into the eon I shall guard to him my mercy; and my covenant is trustworthy to him.

89:29And I shall establish his seed into the eon of the eon, and his throne as the days of heaven.

89:30If his sons should abandon my law, and should not go by my judgments;

89:31if they should profane my ordinances, and should not keep my commandments;

89:32then I will visit their lawlessnesses with a rod; and their iniquities with whips.

89:33But my mercy in no way should I efface from them, nor in any way should I wrong in my truth;

89:34nor in any way should I profane my covenant; and the things going forth through my lips in no way should I annul.

89:35Once I swore by an oath by my holiness; shall I lie to David, no.

89:36His seed shall abide into the eon, and his throne as the sun before me;

89:37and as the moon being readied into the eon, and the trustworthy witness in heaven. PAUSE.

89:38But you thrusted away and treated with contempt. You raised your anointed one.

89:39You eradicated the covenant of your servant. You profaned in the land of his sanctuary.

89:40You demolished all his barriers. You made his fortresses dreaded.

89:41All the ones traveling through the way plundered him. He became scorn to his neighbors.

89:42You raised up high the right hand of the ones afflicting him; you made glad all his enemies.

89:43You turned back the help of his broadsword, and did not assist him in battle.

89:44You rested from cleansing him. You broke down his throne unto the ground.

89:45You diminished the days of his throne. You poured upon him shame.

89:46For how long, O lord, will you turn away -- to the end? Will your anger burn as fire?

89:47Remember what my reality is; for acting in folly, did you creat all the sons of men?

89:48Who is the man who shall live and not see death? Shall he rescue his own soul from out of the hand of Hades? PAUSE.

89:49Where are your ancient mercies, O lord, which you swore by an oath to David in your truth?

89:50Remember, O lord, the scorning of your servants! which I underwent in my bosom, of many nations;

89:51where your enemies berated, O lord, where they berated the equivalent of your anointed one.

89:52Blessed be the lord into the eon. May it be. May it be.
