Psalms 85

To the director; A psalm to the sons of Korah.

85:1You thought well, O lord, of your land. You returned the captivity of Jacob.

85:2You forgave the lawless deeds of your people. You covered all their sins.

85:3You rested all of your anger. You turned from the anger of your rage.

85:4Turn us, O God of our deliverances, and turn your rage from us!

85:5Shall you be provoked to anger against us into the eons? Or shall you extend your anger from generation unto generation?

85:6O God, you, in turning towards us shall enliven us, and your people shall be glad over you.

85:7Show to us, O lord, your mercy! and may you give your deliverance to us.

85:8I shall hear what the lord God shall speak to me; for he shall speak peace unto his people, and unto his sacred ones, and unto the ones turning hearts unto him.

85:9Moreover his deliverance is near the ones fearing him; so that his glory may encamp in our land.

85:10Mercy and truth are met together; righteousness and peace kissed.

85:11Truth arose from out of the land; and righteousness looks through from heaven.

85:12For even the lord shall give graciousness; and our land shall give its fruit.

85:13Righteousness shall go forth before him, and he shall place his footsteps in the way.
