Psalms 63

A psalm to David; in his being in the wilderness of Judah.

63:1O God, my God, to you I rise early. My soul thirsted for you. How often my flesh longed for you in a barren and untrodden and waterless land.

63:2Thus in the holy place I appeared to you, to behold your power and your glory.

63:3For your mercy is better than life. My lips shall praise you;

63:4thus will I bless you in my life; I will lift my hands in your name.

63:5As of fat and fatness may my soul be filled; and with lips of exultation my mouth shall praise.

63:6Forasmuch as I remembered you upon my strewn bed; at the dawns I meditated on you.

63:7For you are my helper, and in the protection of your wings I shall exult.

63:8My soul shall cleave after you; but your right hand took hold of me.

63:9But they seek my soul in folly; they shall enter into the lowermost part of the earth.

63:10They shall be delivered up into the hands of the broadsword; they will be portions for foxes.

63:11But the king shall be glad upon God; all swearing by an oath in him shall be praised, for he obstructed the mouth of the ones speaking unjustly.
