Psalms 57

To the director; do not utterly destroy; to David; for an inscription on a monument; in his running away from the face of Saul into the cave.

57:1Show mercy on me, O God, show mercy on me! For my soul yielded upon you. And in the shadow of your wings I shall hope, until of which time lawlessness should go by.

57:2I shall cry out to God the highest; the God benefiting me.

57:3He sent out from heaven, and he delivered me. He put the ones trampling me unto scorn. God sent out his mercy and his truth;

57:4and he rescued my soul from the midst of lion cubs. I went to bed being disturbed; the sons of men -- their teeth are weapons and arrows, and their tongue a sharp sword.

57:5Be raised up high above the heavens, O God, and your glory above all the earth!

57:6They prepared a snare for my feet, and bent down my soul. They dug a cesspool before my face, and they fell into it. PAUSE.

57:7My heart is prepared, O God, my heart is prepared. I will sing and I will strum in my glory.

57:8Awaken, my glory! Awaken, O psaltery and harp! I shall awaken at dawn.

57:9I will make acknowledgment to you among peoples, O lord, I will strum to you among nations.

57:10For your mercy was magnified unto the heavens; and your truth unto the clouds.

57:11Be raised up high above the heavens, O God, and your glory above all the earth!
