Psalms 42

To the director; for contemplation to the sons of Korah.

42:1In which manner the stag longs after the springs of the waters, so my soul longs after you, O God.

42:2My soul thirsted for the mighty living God. When shall I come and appear in front of God?

42:3My tears became bread for me day and night, while saying to me each day, Where is your God?

42:4These things I remembered, and my soul poured out upon me, for I shall go through to the place of the wonderful tent, unto the house of God, with a voice of exultation, and acknowledgment of the sound of the solemnizing a holiday.

42:5Why are you dejected, O my soul? and why do you disturb me? Hope upon God! for I shall acknowledge to him the deliverance of my person.

42:6O my God, to myself my soul was disturbed; on account of this I will remember you from the land of Jordan, and Hermons, from the small mountain.

42:7The deep calls the deep at the sound of your torrents; all your crests and your waves went over me.

42:8By day the lord gives charge to his mercy, and at night his ode shall be with me -- a prayer to the God of my life.

42:9I will say to God, You are my shielder; why did you forget me? Why do I go looking downcast at the squeezing by the enemy?

42:10In the breaking in pieces of my bones, the ones afflicting me berated me; while in their saying to me accordingly each day, Where is your God?

42:11Why are you dejected, O my soul? and why do you disturb me? Hope upon God! for I shall acknowledge to him the deliverance of my person, and my God.
