Psalms 132

An ode of the steps.

132:1Remember, O lord, David and all his gentleness!

132:2As he swore by an oath to the lord; he made a vow to the God of Jacob, saying,

132:3Shall I enter into the tent of my house, no. Shall I ascend unto the bier of my stewn bed, no.

132:4Shall I give sleep to my eyes, and slumber to my eyelids, and rest to my temples, no;

132:5not until of which time I shall find a place for the lord, a tent for the God of Jacob?

132:6Behold, we heard her in Ephratah; we found her in the plains of the groves.

132:7We shall enter into his tents; we shall do obeisance in the place of which his feet stood.

132:8Rise up, O lord, unto your rest, you and the ark of your sanctuary!

132:9Your priests shall put on righteousness, and your sacred ones shall exult.

132:10Because of David your servant you should not turn away the face of your anointed one.

132:11The lord swore by an oath to David in truth, and in no way shall he annul it, saying, I will establish upon your throne from the fruit of your belly.

132:12If your sons shall guard my covenant, and these my testimonies which I shall teach them, then their sons shall sit upon your throne unto the eon.

132:13For the lord chose Zion; he took it for a dwelling to himself, saying,

132:14This is my rest into the eon of the eon; here I shall dwell, for I took her.

132:15Her game being a blessing, I shall bless; her poor I will fill with bread loaves;

132:16Her priests I will clothe with deliverance; and her sacred ones shall exult in exultation.

132:17There I will cause the horn to rise up to David; I prepared a lamp for my anointed one.

132:18His enemies I will clothe with shame; but upon him my sanctification shall blossom.
