Luke 5

5:1And it came to pass in the time the multitude pressed upon him to hear the word of God, and he was standing by the lake of Gennesaret,

5:2and he saw two boats standing by the lake; and the fishermen having disembarked from them were washing the nets.

5:3And having stepped into one of the boats, which was Simon's, he asked him to turn back a little from the land. And having sat down he taught the multitudes from out of the boat.

5:4And as he ceased speaking, he said to Simon, Turn back into the depth, and let down your nets for a catch!

5:5And responding Simon said to him, Master, through the entire night having tired we took nothing, but on your word I will let down the net.

5:6And this having done, they closed up a multitude of great fishes; and their net was being torn.

5:7And they nodded to their partners, to the ones in the other boat, to come seize them; and they came and filled both the boats, so that they were submerged.

5:8And beholding, Simon Peter fell at the knees of Jesus, saying, Go forth from me, for I am a man a sinner, O Lord.

5:9For a stupefaction compassed him, and all the ones with him, over the catch of the fishes which they seized;

5:10and likewise also James and John, the sons of Zebedee, the ones who were partners with Simon. And Jesus said to Simon, Fear not! from now on you will be taking alive men!

5:11And leading the boats unto the land, leaving all, they followed him.

5:12And it came to pass in his being in one of the cities, and behold -- a man full of leprosy. And seeing Jesus, falling upon his face, he beseeched him, saying, O Lord, if you should want, you are able to cleanse me.

5:13And having stretched out the hand, he touched him, saying, I want, be cleansed! And immediately the leprosy went forth from him.

5:14And he exhorted him to tell no one; but said, Having gone forth show yourself to the priest, and offer concerning your cleansing as Moses assigned for a testimony to them!

5:15And the word went through more concerning him. And many multitudes gathered together to hear, and to be cured by him of their sicknesses.

5:16And he was retreating in the wildernesses, and praying.

5:17And it came to pass on one of the days, and he was teaching, and there were sitting down Pharisees and teachers of the law, the ones who were coming from out of every town of Galilee, and Judea, and Jerusalem. And power of the Lord was there for them to be healed.

5:18And behold, men were bringing upon a bed a man who was disabled, and they sought to carry him in, and to put him in front of him.

5:19And not having found by what means they should carry him in through the multitude, having ascending upon the roof, they lowered him through the ceramic tiles with the cot into the midst before Jesus.

5:20And beholding their belief, he said to him, O man, your sins are forgiven you.

5:21And the scribes and the Pharisees began to reason, saying, Who is this who speaks blasphemy? Who is able to forgive sins, except God alone?

5:22And Jesus recognizing their thoughts, responding said to them, Why do you reason in your hearts?

5:23What is easier to say? Your sins are forgiven to you; or to say, Arise and walk!

5:24But that you should know that the son of man has authority upon the earth to forgive sins, he said to the disabled man, To you I say, Arise, and take your cot, go unto your house!

5:25And immediately, having risen before them, and having lifted that upon which he reclined, he went forth unto his house glorifying God.

5:26And astonishment took all, and they glorified God, and were filled of fear, saying that, We beheld an incredible thing today.

5:27And after these things he went forth, and he saw a tax collector, by name Levi, sitting down at the tax collector's station. And he said to him, Follow me!

5:28And leaving behind all, having risen, he followed him.

5:29And Levi made a great banquet for him in his house. And was there a great multitude of tax collectors, and others who were with them reclining.

5:30And their scribes and the Pharisees grumbled against his disciples, saying, Why with the tax collectors and sinners does he eat and drink?

5:31And answering Jesus said to them, No need do the ones being in health have of a physician, but the ones having illnesses.

5:32I have not come to call righteous ones but sinners unto repentance.

5:33And they said to him, Why do the disciples of John fast frequently, and make supplications, and in like manner the ones of the Pharisees, but the ones to you eat and drink?

5:34And he said to them, Are you able to make the sons of the bridal chamber fast when the groom is with them?

5:35But there will come days, that whenever the groom departs from them, then they shall fast in those days.

5:36And he spoke also a parable to them that, No one puts a piece of cloth of a new coat upon an old cloak; otherwise also the new splits, and the old cloak does not join in harmony with the one of the new.

5:37And no one casts new wine into old leather wine bags; otherwise the new wine shall tear the leather wine bags, and it will be poured out, and the leather wine bags will be destroyed.

5:38But new wine is put into new leather wine bags, and both are preserved together.

5:39And no one having drunk old wine immediately wants new; for he says the old is better.
