Luke 4

4:1And Jesus full of holy spirit returned from the Jordan; and he was led by the spirit into the wilderness,

4:2forty days being tested by the devil. And he did not eat anything during those days. And with their being completed, afterwards he hungered.

4:3And the devil said to him, If you are Son of God, tell this stone that it become bread!

4:4And Jesus answered to him, saying, It has been written that, Not by bread alone shall man live, but by every word of God.

4:5And the devil led him into a high mountain, to show to him all the kingdoms of the world in a moment of time.

4:6And the devil said to him, I shall give to you this authority all together, and their glory; for it has been delivered to me, and to whom ever I should want to give it.

4:7You then, if you should do obeisance before me, all will be yours.

4:8And answering to him Jesus said, Go behind me Satan! for it has been written, You shall do obeisance to the Lord your God, and to him alone shall you serve.

4:9And he led him unto Jerusalem, and stood him upon the border of the temple, and said to him, If you are the son of God, throw yourself from here below!

4:10For it has been written that, To his angels he shall give charge concerning you, to guard you;

4:11and upon hands they shall lift you, lest at any time your foot should stumble against a stone.

4:12And answering Jesus said to him that, It has been said, Do not put to test the Lord your God!

4:13And the devil having completed all the test, left from him until an occasion.

4:14And Jesus returned in the power of the spirit into Galilee; and a reputation went forth unto the entire place round about concerning him.

4:15And he taught in their synagogues, being extolled by all.

4:16And he came unto Nazareth, of which he was reared. And he entered (according to the thing accustomed for him in the day of the Sabbaths) into the synagogue, and he rose up to read.

4:17And there was given over to him a scroll of Isaiah the prophet. And unrolling the scroll, he found the place of which it was having been written,

4:18Spirit of the Lord is upon me, because of which he anointed me to announce good news to the poor; he has sent me to heal the ones being broken in heart, to proclaim to captives a release, and to blind a recovery of sight, to send a release to the ones being devastated;

4:19to proclaim the accepted year of the Lord.

4:20And having rolled up the scroll, having given it back to the assistant, he sat down. And all eyes in the synagogue were gazing upon him.

4:21And he began to say to them that, Today this scripture has been fulfilled in your ears.

4:22And all bore witness to him, and marveled over the words of favor, the ones going forth from out of his mouth. And they said, Is not this the son of Joseph?

4:23And he said to them, Assuredly you shall say to me this parable, Physician attend to yourself! As many things as we heard taking place in Capernaum, do also here in your fatherland!

4:24And he said, Amen I say to you that, Not one prophet is accepted in his fatherland.

4:25And in truth I say to you, There were many widows in the days of Elijah in Israel, when the heaven was locked for three years and six months, as a great famine took place upon all the land.

4:26And to not one of them was Elijah sent, except unto Sarepta of Sidon, to a widow woman.

4:27And there were many lepers in the time of Elisha the prophet in Israel, and not one of them was cleansed, except Naaman the Syrian.

4:28And they were all filled with rage in the synagogue, hearing these things.

4:29And having risen up, they cast him outside the city, and led him unto a brow of the mountain upon which their city had been built, so as to fling him downwards.

4:30But he going through the midst of them went away.

4:31And he went down unto Capernaum, a city of Galilee, and was teaching them on the Sabbaths.

4:32And they were overwhelmed at his teaching, for his word was with authority.

4:33And in the synagogue was a man having a spirit of an unclean demon, and he shouted aloud with a great voice,

4:34saying, Alas, what is it to us and to you, Jesus -- Nazarene? Are you come to destroy us? I know you, who you are, the holy one of God.

4:35And Jesus reproached him, saying, Be halted, and come forth from him! And the demon having tossed him into the midst, came forth from him, in nothing having hurt him.

4:36And there became a stupefaction upon all, and they conversed together with one another, saying, What word is this, that with authority and power he gives orders to the unclean spirits, and they come forth?

4:37And the sound concerning him went forth unto every place round about.

4:38And rising up from out of the synagogue, he entered into the house of Simon. And the mother-in-law of Simon was constrained by a great fever; and they asked him concerning her.

4:39And standing above her, he reproached the fever; and it left her. And immediately rising up she served to them.

4:40And at the going down of the sun, all as many as had ones being weak by various diseases led them to him; and having placed the hands upon each one of them, he cured them.

4:41And there came forth also demons from many, crying out and saying that, You are the Christ the son of God. And reproaching, he did not allow them to speak; for they knew him to be the Christ.

4:42And becoming day, having come forth, he went into a desolate place. And the multitudes sought him, and came unto him, and constrained him to not go from them.

4:43And he said to them that, Also to the other cities it is necessary for me to announce good news -- the kingdom of God. For in this I have been sent.

4:44And he was proclaiming in the synagogues of the of Galilee.
