Psalms 66

To the director; an ode; a psalm of rising up.

66:1Shout to the lord all the earth!

66:2Strum indeed to his name! Give glory of his praise!

66:3Say to God! How fearful are your works. In the magnitude of your power your enemies shall lie to you.

66:4Let all the earth do obeisance to you, and strum unto you! Let them strum to your name the highest! PAUSE.

66:5Come and see the works of God! as fearful in counsels above the sons of men.

66:6The one converting the sea into dry land; in the river they shall go through on foot. There we shall be glad in him --

66:7to the one being master in his domination of the eon. His eyes look upon the nations. Let not the ones greatly embittering him raise themselves up high! PAUSE.

66:8Bless, O nations, our God! And cause the voice of his praise to be heard!

66:9Even of the one who establishes my soul for life, and not granting my feet for tossing about.

66:10For you tried us, O God; you set us on fire as silver is set to the fire.

66:11You brought us into the snare; you put afflictions upon our back.

66:12You set men over our heads; we went through fire and water; but you led us unto respite.

66:13I will enter into your house with whole burnt-offerings. I will render to you my vows,

66:14which my lips drew apart, and my mouth spoke in my affliction.

66:15Whole burnt-offerings being filled with marrow I will offer to you, with incense and rams. I will offer to you oxen with winter yearlings. PAUSE.

66:16Come listen! and I will describe to you (all ones fearing God) as many things as he did for my soul.

66:17To him with my mouth I cried out, and I raised up high by my tongue.

66:18If I had viewed injustice in my heart, let the lord not listen to me!

66:19On account of this God listened to me; he took heed to the voice of my supplication.

66:20Blessed be the God who separated not from my prayer, nor his mercy from me.
