Psalms 49

To the director; a psalm to the sons of Korah.

49:1Hear these things all nations! Give ear all the ones dwelling in the inhabitable world --

49:2both the earth-born, and the sons of men together, rich and needy!

49:3My mouth speaks wisdom, and the meditation of my heart understanding.

49:4I will lean my ear to a parable; I will open my riddle with a psaltery.

49:5Why do I fear in the wicked day? The lawlessness at my heel shall encircle me --

49:6the ones yielding upon their power, even the ones boasting upon the multitude of their riches.

49:7A brother does not ransom. Shall a man ransom? He shall not give to God an appeasement for himself.

49:8(Even the value of the ransoming his soul, even if he labored into the eon.)

49:9And he shall live till the end, for he should not see corruption.

49:10Whenever he should behold wise men dying, the fool and the mindless one shall perish together; and they shall leave behind their riches to strangers.

49:11And their tombs are their houses into the eon, and their tents unto generation and generation. They call lands after their names.

49:12And a man being in honor perceived not; he resembles the unthinking cattle, and is like them.

49:13This their way is an obstacle to them; yet after these things they take pleasure with their mouths.

49:14They placed them as sheep in Hades; death tends them; and the upright shall dominate them in the morning; and their help shall grow old in Hades; they were banished from their glory.

49:15Except God shall ransom my soul from out of the hand of Hades, whenever he should take me.

49:16Do not fear whenever a man should be enriched, or whenever the glory of his house should be multiplied,

49:17for he shall not take anything in his dying, nor will his glory go down with him!

49:18For his soul shall be blessed in his life. He shall make acknowledgment to you whenever you should do good to him.

49:19He shall enter unto the generation of his fathers; unto the eon he shall not see light.

49:20And a man being in honor perceived not; he resembles the unthinking cattle and is like them.
