Proverbs 20
20:1Unrestrained wine and outrageous intoxication, and all being laid waste shall not be wise.
20:2The intimidation of a king differs not from the rage of a lion; and the one provoking him even is intermixing sins against his own soul.
20:3It is glory for man to turn from reviling; but every fool is closely joined in such matters.
20:4Berating a lazy one does not shame him, likewise also the one borrowing grain in harvest.
20:5Counsel is deep water for the heart of a man; and an intelligent man shall draw it out.
20:6A great man, and a merciful man is precious; but it is work to find a trustworthy man.
20:7The one who behaves unblemished in righteousness, shall leave his children blessed.
20:8Whenever a just king shall sit upon a throne, not any evil withstands before his eyes.
20:9Who shall boast to have a pure heart? or who shall speak openly to be clean from sins?
20:10An untrue weight, great and small, and untrue double measures are unclean before the lord -- even both; even the one making them.
20:11The young man with a sacred man will be bound hand and foot in his practices, and his way will be straight.
20:12The ear hears, and the eye sees; and both are the works of the lord.
20:13Do not love to speak ill! that you should not be lifted away; but open wide your eyes, and be filled up with bread loaves!
20:14Bad, bad says the one buying, but when he should depart then he shall boast.
20:15There is gold and multitude of very costly stones, and the valued vessel -- lips of understanding.
20:16Remove the garment of the one guaranteeing a loan for a stranger, and take security from him for a strange woman!
20:17Bread of falsehood agreeable to man, and thereupon his mouth shall be filled up of gravel.
20:18A device with counsel solidifies, and let war be with guidance!
20:19The one uncovering counsel in a sanhedrin goes double-tongued; and be not mixed with the one widening the things of his own lips!
20:20One speaking evil of father or mother, his torch shall be extinguished; and the pupils of his eyes shall see darkness.
20:21A portion being hastily gotten at first, in the finalities shall not be blessed.
20:22You should not say, I will pay back the enemy; but wait on the lord that he should help you.
20:23A double weight is an abomination to the lord; and a deceitful yoke balance scale is not good before him.
20:24The footsteps of a man are straightened by the lord; but a mortal, how can he comprehend his ways?
20:25It is a snare to a man quickly to sanctify anything of his own; for after vowing it, changing of the mind happens.
20:26A wise king is a winnower of the impious; and he puts the wheel to them.
20:27The light of the lord is the breath of men, which searches the storerooms of the bellies.
20:28Charity and truth are a guard to a king, and they will surround his throne in righteousness.
20:29An ornament to young men is wisdom; and the glory of older men is gray hair.
20:30Bruises and breaks meet with bad men; and calamities shall come to the storerooms of their bellies.
