Matthew 27
27:1And the morning having become, all the chief priests took council, and the elders of the people against Jesus, so as to put him to death.
27:2And having bound him, they took and delivered him up to Pontius Pilate, to the governor.
27:3Then Judas the one delivering him up beholding, that he was condemned, changed his mind so as to return the thirty silver pieces to the chief priests and to the elders,
27:4saying, I sinned, having delivered up innocent blood. But they said, What is that to us? You shall see to that.
27:5And having tossed the silver pieces in the temple, he withdrew. And having gone forth he hung himself.
27:6But the chief priests having taken the silver pieces, said, It is not allowed to throw them into the offering when it is the value for blood.
27:7And taking council, they bought with them the field of the potter for a burial ground for strangers.
27:8Therefore that field is called, Field of blood, until today.
27:9Then was fulfilled the thing having been spoken through Jeremiah the prophet, saying, And I took the thirty silver pieces, the value of the one being valued, the one who was valued by the sons of Israel.
27:10And they gave them for the field of the potter as the Lord gave orders to me.
27:11And Jesus stood before the governor. And the governor asked him, saying, Are you the king of the Jews? And Jesus said to him, You say it.
27:12And in the charging him by the chief priests and the elders, he answered nothing.
27:13Then Pilate says to him, Do you not hear how much they witness against you?
27:14And he did not answer to him to not even one word; so that the governor marveled exceedingly.
27:15And according to the holiday the governor was accustomed to release one prisoner to the multitude, whom they wanted.
27:16And they had then a notorious prisoner being called Barabbas.
27:17Of their being gathered together then, Pilate said to them, Whom do you want I release to you? Barabbas or Jesus, the one being called, Christ.
27:18For he knew that on account of envy they delivered him up.
27:19And of his sitting down upon the rostrum, his wife sent to him, saying, Let there be nothing between you and that just one; for I suffered much today by a dream concerning him.
27:20But the chief priests and the elders persuaded the multitudes that they should ask for Barabbas, and Jesus should perish.
27:21And responding the governor said to them, Who do you want from the two I should release to you? And they said, Barabbas.
27:22Pilate says to them, What then shall I do with Jesus the one being called Christ? all say to him, Let him be crucified!
27:23And the governor said, For what evil did he do? And they extremely more cried out, saying, Let him be crucified!
27:24And Pilate seeing that in nothing he derived benefit, but rather it became a tumult, having taken water, he washed his hands before the multitude, saying, I am innocent of the blood of this just one; you shall see to it.
27:25And responding all the people said, His blood is upon us and upon our children.
27:26Then he released to them Barabbas. And scourging Jesus, he delivered him up that he should be crucified.
27:27Then the soldiers of the governor, having taken with them Jesus to the praetorium, gathered against him the entire cohort.
27:28And stripping him, they put on him a scarlet military cloak.
27:29And having plaited a crown of thorns, they placed it upon his head, and a reed in his right hand. And kneeling before him, they mocked him, saying, Hail, king of the Jews!
27:30And having spit on him, they took the reed, and beat upon his head.
27:31And when they mocked him, they took the military cloak off him, and they put on him his garments; and they took him to be crucified.
27:32And going forth, they found a Cyrenaean man, by name Simon. This one they conscripted that he should bear his cross.
27:33And having come unto a place being called Golgotha, which is being called, place of the skull,
27:34they gave to him to drink vinegar, being mixed with bile. And having tasted, he did not want to drink.
27:35And having crucified him, they divided his garments, casting a lot; that should be fulfilled the thing having been spoken by the prophet, They divided my garments among themselves, and over my clothes they cast a lot.
27:36And sitting down they kept him there.
27:37And they placed above his head his accusation being written -- This is Jesus the king of the Jews.
27:38Then were crucified with him two robbers, one at his right and one at his left.
27:39And the ones coming near blasphemed him, shaking their heads,
27:40and saying, O one destroying the temple, and in three days rebuilding it, deliver yourself! If you are the son of God, come down from the cross!
27:41And in like manner also the chief priests mocking with the scribes and elders, said,
27:42Others he delivered, himself he is not able to deliver. If he is king of Israel, let him come down now from the cross, and we will believe upon him!
27:43He relied upon God; let him rescue him now! if he wants him. For he said that, I am the son of God.
27:44And the same way also the robbers being crucified along with him berated him.
27:45And from the sixth hour darkness came upon all the land until the ninth hour.
27:46And around the ninth hour Jesus yelled out with a great voice, saying, Eli, Eli, lima sabacthani; that is, My God, My God, why have you abandoned me?
27:47And some of the ones standing there having heard, said that, This one calls Elijah.
27:48And immediately one of them running, and taking a sponge, filling also of vinegar, and putting it on a reed gave him to drink.
27:49And the rest said, Let go! we should see if Elijah comes delivering him.
27:50And Jesus again, having cried out with a great voice, let go the spirit.
27:51And behold, the veil of the temple was split in two from above unto below; and the earth was shaken, and the rocks split;
27:52and the tombs were opened, and many bodies of the holy ones sleeping arose;
27:53and having come forth from out of the tombs, after his rising up, entered into the holy city, and were revealed to many.
27:54And the centurion, and the ones with him keeping guard over Jesus, having beheld the earthquake, and the things happening, feared exceedingly, saying, Truly this was son of God.
27:55And were there many women from far off viewing, ones who followed Jesus from Galilee, serving to him;
27:56among whom was Mary the Magdalene, and Mary the mother of James and Joses, and the mother of the sons of Zebedee.
27:57And evening having become, there came a rich man from Arimathea, by name Joseph, who also himself was discipled by Jesus.
27:58This one having come forward to Pilate, asked the body of Jesus. Then Pilate bid to give the body.
27:59And having taken the body, Joseph swathed it with pure fine linen,
27:60and he placed it in his new sepulchre, which he quarried in the rock. And having rolled a great stone for the door of the sepulchre, he went forth.
27:61And was there, Mary the Magdalene, and the other Mary, sitting down before the tomb.
27:62And the next day, which is after the preparation, were gathered together the chief priests and the Pharisees to Pilate,
27:63saying, O master, we remember that, that deluded one said, while still living, After three days I arise.
27:64Bid then to safeguard the tomb until the third day! lest at any time his disciples coming at night should steal it, and should say to the people, He is risen from the dead; and will be the last delusion worse than the first.
27:65And Pilate said to them, You have a custodial guard, Go away! You safeguard as you know!
27:66And the ones having gone safeguarded the tomb, setting a seal upon the stone by the custodial guard.
