Matthew 22

22:1And responding Jesus again spoke to them in parables, saying,

22:2The kingdom of the heavens was likened to a man, a king, who prepared wedding feasts for his son.

22:3And he sent his servants to call the ones being invited unto the wedding feasts; and they did not want to come.

22:4Again he sent other servants, saying, Say to the ones being invited! Behold, my dinner is prepared; my bullocks and the fattened calves are being sacrificed, and all things are prepared; come to the wedding feasts.

22:5But neglecting, they went forth, the one unto his own field, and one unto his trade;

22:6and the remaining having taken hold of his servants, insulted and killed them.

22:7And having heard, that king was provoked to anger. And having sent forth his military, he destroyed those murderers, and their city he burned.

22:8Then he says to his servants, Indeed the wedding feast is prepared, but the ones being invited were not worthy.

22:9You go then unto the outer reaches of the ways! and as many as you should find, invite to the wedding feasts!

22:10And those servants having gone forth into the ways, gathered together all, as many as they found, both wicked and good; and the wedding feast was filled with ones reclining.

22:11And the king entering to see the ones reclining, beheld there a man not having put on the wedding garment.

22:12And he says to him, Friend, how did you enter here not having a wedding garment? And he was halted.

22:13Then the king said to the servants, Having bound his feet and hands, lift him and cast him into the outer darkness! There, there will be the weeping and the gnashing of teeth.

22:14For many are called, but few are chosen.

22:15Then having gone, the Pharisees took council how they should ensnare him in a matter.

22:16And they sent to him their disciples with the Herodians, saying, Teacher, we know that you are true, and the way of God in truth you teach, and there is no care to you concerning any one, for you see not to the person of men.

22:17Now then tell to us! What do you think? Is it allowed to give tribute to Caesar or not?

22:18And Jesus knowing their wickedness, said, Why do you test me, hypocrites?

22:19Display to me the money for the tribute! And they brought to him a denarius.

22:20And he says to them, What is the image to this and the inscription?

22:21They say to him, Caesar's. Then he says to them, Render then the things of Caesar, to Caesar, and the things of God, to God!

22:22And having heard they marveled, and leaving him, they went forth.

22:23On that day, Sadducees came forward to him, the ones saying there is no resurrection. And they asked him,

22:24saying, Teacher, Moses said, If any should die not having children, his brother shall ally by marriage to his wife, and shall raise up seed to his brother.

22:25Now there were with us seven brothers; and the first having married came to an end; and not having seed he left his wife to his brother.

22:26In like manner also the second, and the third, unto the seven.

22:27And afterwards all died and the woman.

22:28In the then resurrection, which of the seven will she be wife? for all had her.

22:29And answering Jesus said to them, You err, not knowing the scriptures, nor the power of God.

22:30For in the resurrection neither they marry, nor give in marriage, but they are as angels of God in heaven.

22:31But concerning the resurrection of the dead, Did you not read the thing having been spoken to you by God, saying,

22:32I am the God of Abraham, and the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob? He is not the God of the dead, but of living.

22:33And having heard, the multitudes were overwhelmed at his teaching.

22:34And the Pharisees, having heard that he halted the Sadducees, gathered together at the same place.

22:35And one of them asked, a legal expert, testing him and saying,

22:36Teacher, which commandment is great in the law?

22:37And Jesus said to him, You shall love the Lord your God with your entire heart, and with your entire soul, and with your entire thought.

22:38This is the first and great commandment.

22:39And second likened to it, You shall love your neighbor as yourself.

22:40In these the two commandments all the law and the prophets hang upon.

22:41And the Pharisees being gathered together, Jesus asked them,

22:42saying, What do you think concerning the Christ? Whose son is he? They say to him, David's.

22:43He says to them, How then does David in spirit call him Lord? Saying,

22:44The Lord said to my Lord, Sit down at my right until whenever I should establish your enemies for a footstool for your feet!

22:45If then David called him, Lord, how is he his son?

22:46And no one was able to answer him a word; nor dared to ask him anything from that day any more.
