Matthew 20

20:1For the kingdom of the heavens is likened to a man, a master of a house, who came forth at the same time in the morning to hire workers for his vineyard.

20:2And having agreed with the workers for a denarius a day, he sent them into his vineyard.

20:3And having come forth around the third hour, he beheld others standing in the market idle.

20:4And to those he said, You go also yourselves into the vineyard! and what ever might be just I will give to you.

20:5And they went forth. Again going forth around the sixth and ninth hour, he did likewise.

20:6And around the eleventh hour, having come forth, he found others standing idle, and he says to them, Why do you stand here the entire day idle?

20:7They say to him that, No one hired us. He says to them, You go also yourselves into the vineyard, and what ever might be just you shall receive!

20:8And evening having become, says the master of the vineyard to his caretaker, Call the workers, and render to them the wage! beginning from the last unto the first.

20:9And the ones having come around the eleventh hour, received each a denarius.

20:10And having come, the first ones thought that they shall receive more; and they received also themselves each a denarius.

20:11And having received, they grumbled against the master of the house,

20:12saying that, These last produced for only one hour, and you made them equal to us, the ones bearing the load of the day and the burning wind.

20:13And he responding said to one of them, My companion, I wrong you not; did you not agree with me for a denarius?

20:14Carry yours and go! But I want to give to these last ones as also to you.

20:15Or is it not allowed to me to do what I want in the things mine? Is it your eye is wicked, that I am good?

20:16Thus will be the last first, and the first last. For many are called, but few chosen.

20:17And Jesus ascending unto Jerusalem, took with himself the twelve disciples in private on the way, and he said to them;

20:18Behold, we ascend unto Jerusalem, and the son of man shall be delivered up to the chief priests, and scribes, and they shall condemn him to death.

20:19And they shall deliver him up to the nations, to mock and to whip and to crucify; and in the third day he shall rise up.

20:20Then came forward to him the mother of the sons of Zebedee with her sons doing obeisance, and asking something from him.

20:21And he said to her, What do you want? She says to him, Say that these my two sons should sit, one on your right, and one on your left, in your kingdom!

20:22And answering Jesus said, You do not know what you ask. Are you able to drink the cup which I am about to drink? And the immersion which I am immersed to be immersed? They say to him, We are able.

20:23And he says to them, Indeed, my cup you shall drink, and the immersion which I am immersed you shall be immersed; but to sit on my right and on my left is not mine to give, but to the ones whom it has been prepared by my father.

20:24And having heard, the ten were indignant about the two brothers.

20:25And Jesus having called them, said, You know that the rulers of the nations dominate them, and the great ones exercise authority over them.

20:26But not so shall it be with you. But who ever should want among you to become great, shall be your servant.

20:27And who ever should want among you to be first, shall be your servant.

20:28As the son of man did not come to be served, but to serve, and to give his life as a ransom instead of many.

20:29And of their going forth from Jericho, there followed to him a great.

20:30And behold, two blind men sitting down by the way, having heard that Jesus is passing by, cried out, saying, Show mercy on us, O Lord, son of David!

20:31But the multitude reproached them that they should keep silent. But all the greater they cried out, saying, Show mercy on us, O Lord, son of David!

20:32And standing, Jesus called them, and said, What do you want I should do to you?

20:33They say to him, O Lord, that our eyes should be open.

20:34And moved with compassion, Jesus touched their eyes. And immediately their eyes gained sight, and they followed him.
