Matthew 16

16:1And having come forward, the Pharisees and Sadducees testing, asked him to display a sign from out of the heaven to them.

16:2And he answering said to them, Evening having become, you say, Fair weather; for the heaven is fiery red.

16:3And at morning, Today it will be distressful; for the heaven being gloomy is fiery red. Hypocrites, forasmuch as the face of the heaven you know to examine, but the signs of the times you are not able.

16:4A wicked adulterous generation seeks anxiously a sign; and a sign shall not be given it, except the sign of Jonah the prophet. And leaving them behind, he went forth.

16:5And his disciples having come unto the other side forgot to take bread loaves.

16:6And Jesus said to them, See! and take heed from the yeast of the Pharisees and Sadducees!

16:7And they were arguing among themselves, saying that, We did not take bread loaves.

16:8And knowing, Jesus said to them, Why are you arguing among yourselves, O ones of little belief, that you did not take bread loaves?

16:9Not yet do you comprehend, nor remember the five bread loaves of the five thousand, and how many hampers you took up?

16:10Nor the seven bread loaves of the four thousand, and how many baskets you took up?

16:11How do you not comprehend that it is not concerning bread I spoke to you to take heed from the yeast of the Pharisees and Sadducees?

16:12Then they perceived that he did not say to take heed of the yeast of the bread loaf, but of the teaching of the Pharisees and Sadducees.

16:13And Jesus having come into the parts of Caesarea of Philippi asked his disciples, saying, Who do men say me the son of man to be?

16:14And they said, Some John the Baptist, and others Elijah, and others Jeremiah, or one of the prophets.

16:15He says to them, And you, who do you say me to be?

16:16And answering Simon Peter said, You are the Christ, the son of the living God.

16:17And responding Jesus said to him, Blessed are you Simon Bar Jonah; for flesh and blood did not reveal it to you, but my father, the one in the heavens.

16:18And I say unto you, that you are Peter, and upon this, the rock, I will build my assembly, and the gates of Hades shall not prevail against it.

16:19And I will give to you the keys of the kingdom of the heavens; and whatever you should have bound upon the earth, it shall be have been bound in the heavens; and what ever you should have untied upon the earth, it shall have been untied in the heavens.

16:20Then he gave orders to his disciples that not one shall say that he is Jesus the Christ.

16:21From then Jesus began to show to his disciples that it is necessary for him to go forth unto Jerusalem, and to suffer much from the elders and chief priests and scribes, and to be killed, and in the third day to be risen.

16:22And Peter taking him by himself began reproaching to him, saying, Kindness to you O Lord, in no way will this be to you.

16:23And having turned he said to Peter, Get away behind me, Satan! you are my obstacle, for you do not think the things of God, but the things of men.

16:24Then Jesus said to his disciples, If any wants to come after me, let him totally reject himself, and lift his cross, and follow me!

16:25For who ever should want to preserve his life, will lose it. But who ever should lose his life because of me, shall find it.

16:26For what benefits a man if the entire world he should gain, but his soul should suffer loss? Or what bargain will a man give for his soul?

16:27For the son of man is about to come in the glory of his father with his angels; and then he shall recompense each according to his actions.

16:28Amen I say to you, there are some of the ones here standing, the ones who in no way shall taste death, until whenever they should behold the son of man coming in his kingdom.
