Matthew 13

13:1And in that day, Jesus having gone forth from the house, sat down by the sea.

13:2And were gathered together with him great multitudes, so that he having stepped into the boat sat down; and all the multitude stood upon the shore.

13:3And he spoke to them many things in parables, saying, Behold, came forth the one sowing to sow.

13:4And in his sowing, some seed indeed fell by the way, and the birds came and ate them.

13:5And others fell upon the rocky places, where it did not have much earth. And immediately it rose up, on account of the not having a depth of earth.

13:6But the sun having risen scorched it; and on account of the not having root it was dried up.

13:7And others fell by the thorn-bushes, and the thorn-bushes ascended and choked them.

13:8And others fell upon the good earth, and yielded fruit; some indeed a hundred, and some sixty, and some thirty.

13:9The one having ears to hear, let him hear!

13:10And having come, the disciples said to him, Why in parables do you speak to them?

13:11And he answering said to them that, To you has been given to know the mysteries of the kingdom of the heavens, but to those it has not been given.

13:12For whosoever has, it shall be given to him, and he shall abound; but whosoever does not have, even what he has shall be lifted from him.

13:13On account of this I speak to them in parables. For seeing they do not see, and hearing they do not hear, nor perceive.

13:14And is fulfilled by them the prophecy of Isaiah, the one saying, Hearing you shall hear, and in no way should you perceive; and seeing you shall see, and in no way should you know.

13:15For the heart of this people was thickened, and with the ears heavily they heard, and they closed the eyelids of their eyes; lest at any time they should see with the eyes, and with the ears should hear, and the heart should perceive, and they should turn, and I shall heal them.

13:16But blessed are your eyes, for they see, and your ears, for they hear.

13:17For amen I say to you, that many prophets and just ones desired to behold what you see, and beheld not; and to hear what you hear, and heard not.

13:18You then hear the parable of the one sowing.

13:19Every one hearing the word of the kingdom, and not perceiving, there comes the evil one, and seizes by force the thing being sown in his heart. This is the one by the way being sown.

13:20And the one by the rocky places being sown, this is the one hearing the word, and straightway with joy receives it;

13:21but he has no root in himself, but is temporary. And affliction taking place or persecution on account of the word, straightway he is caused to stumble.

13:22And the one in the thorn-bushes being sown, this is the one hearing the word, and the anxiety of this eon, and the deception of riches chokes out the word, and he becomes unfruitful.

13:23But the one being sown upon the good earth, this is the one hearing the word, and perceiving; who indeed bears fruit, and produces some indeed a hundred, and some sixty, and some thirty.

13:24Another parable he pointed out to them, saying, The kingdom of the heavens is like a man sowing good seed in his field.

13:25And during the sleeping of the men, his enemy came and sowed tares in the midst of the grain, and went forth.

13:26And when the blade burst forth, and produced fruit, then appeared also the tares.

13:27And coming forward, the manservants of the master of the house said to him, O Master, was it not good seed you sowed in your field? from where then have the tares?

13:28And he said to them, an enemy, a man did this. And the manservants said to him, Do you want then having gone forth we gather them?

13:29And he said, No, lest gathering the tares you should root out together with them the grain.

13:30Allow both to grow together until the harvest! And at the time of the harvest I will say to the harvesters, Gather together first the tares, and tie them into a bundle so as to incinerate them! but the grain you gather together unto my storehouse!

13:31Another parable he pointed out to them, saying, The kingdom of the heavens is likened to a kernel of mustard, which a man having taken, sowed in his field;

13:32the one which indeed is lesser of all the seeds; but whenever it should grow, the vegetation is greater, and it becomes a tree, so as for the birds of the heaven to come and encamp in its branches.

13:33Another parable he spoke to them, The kingdom of the heavens is likened to yeast, which having taken, a woman hides in three seahs of flour, until of which time the entire amount is leavened.

13:34All these things Jesus spoke in parables to the multitudes, and without the help of parables he did not speak to them.

13:35So that should be fulfilled the thing having been spoken through the prophet, saying, I shall open in parables my mouth; I will bellow things being hidden from the founding of the world.

13:36Then dismissing the multitudes, Jesus went into the house. And came forward to him his disciples, saying, Expound to us the parable of the tares of the field.

13:37And answering he said to them, The one sowing the good seed is the son of man;

13:38and the field is the world; and the good seed, these are the sons of the kingdom; and the tares are the sons of the wicked one;

13:39and the enemy, the one sowing them is the devil; and the harvest is the completion of the age; and the harvesters are angels.

13:40As then the tares are collected together and incinerated in fire, so it will be in the completion of this eon.

13:41The son of man shall send forth his angels, and they shall gather together from his kingdom all the ones causing offence, and the ones committing lawlessness.

13:42And they shall throw them into the furnace of the fire; there, there shall be the weeping and the gnashing of the teeth.

13:43Then the just shall shine forth as the sun in the kingdom of their father. The one having ears to hear let him hear!

13:44Again the kingdom of the heavens is likened to a treasure being hidden in the field, which having found a man hid, and from the joy of it goes and all as much as he has he sells, and he buys that field.

13:45Again the kingdom of the heavens is likened to a man, a merchant seeking good pearls;

13:46who having found one valuable pearl, having gone forth sells all as much as he has, and buys it.

13:47Again the kingdom of the heavens is likened to a dragnet being thrown into the sea, and of every kind gathering together;

13:48which when it was filled, having been hauled upon the shore, and having sat down they gather together the good things into receptacles, and the rotten they throw out.

13:49Thus shall it be in the completion of the age; the angels shall go forth, and they shall separate the evil ones from the midst of the righteous.

13:50And they shall throw them into the furnace of the fire; there, there shall be the weeping and the gnashing of the teeth.

13:51Jesus says to them, Do you perceive all these things? They say to him, Yes, O Lord.

13:52And he said to them, On account of this every scribe discipled into the kingdom of the heavens is likened to a man, a master of a house, who casts out from his treasury new and old.

13:53And it came to pass when Jesus finished these parables, he moved on from there.

13:54And having come into his fatherland, he taught them in their synagogue, so as to overwhelm them, and for them to say, From what place is this one, this wisdom, and the works of power?

13:55Is this not the son of the fabricator? Is not his mother called Mary, and his brothers James, and Joses, and Simon, and Judas?

13:56And his sisters, are they not all with us? From where then are all these things to this one?

13:57And they were offended by him. But Jesus said to them, A prophet is not without honor, except in his fatherland, and in his house.

13:58And he did not do there many works of power because of their unbelief.
