Mark 8

8:1In those days, a very great multitude being, and not having anything to eat, Jesus having called his disciples, says to them,

8:2I am moved with compassion over the multitude, for already three days they remain with me, and they do not have anything to eat.

8:3And if I should release them hungry from fasting unto their house, they shall be fainting in the way; for some of them have come from far off.

8:4And his disciples answered him, From what place shall any of these here be able to fill of bread in a desolate place?

8:5And he asked them, How many bread loaves do you have? And they said, Seven.

8:6And he exhorted the multitude to recline upon the ground. And having taken the seven bread loaves, having given thanks, he broke, and gave to his disciples, that they should place it near them; and they placed it near the multitude.

8:7And they had a few small fishes; and having blessed, he said to place them near also.

8:8And they ate, and were filled. And they lifted up an abundance of pieces -- seven small baskets.

8:9And the ones eating were about four thousand; and he dismissed them.

8:10And immediately having stepped into the boat with his disciples, he came into the parts of Dalmanutha.

8:11And came forth the Pharisees, and they began to debate with him, seeking from him a sign from the heaven, testing him.

8:12And having groaned in his spirit, he says, Why does this generation seek anxiously for a sign? Amen I say to you, Shall a sign be given to this generation, no.

8:13And having left them, again having stepped into the boat, he went forth unto the other side.

8:14And they forgot to take bread loaves; and except for one bread loaf, they did not have any with themselves in the boat.

8:15And he warned them saying, See! take heed of the yeast of the Pharisees and the yeast of Herod!

8:16And they reasoned with one another, saying that, We have no bread loaves.

8:17And knowing, Jesus says to them, Why do you reason that you have no bread loaves? Not yet do you comprehend, nor perceive? Do you still have your heart being calloused?

8:18Having eyes, do you not see? And ears having, do you not hear? And do you not remember?

8:19When the five bread loaves I broke for the five thousand, how many hampers full of pieces did you lift? They say to him, Twelve.

8:20And when the seven for the four thousand, how many small baskets full of pieces did you lift? And they said, Seven.

8:21And he said to them, How do you not perceive?

8:22And he comes into Bethsaida; and they bring to him a blind man, and they appeal to him that he should touch him.

8:23And taking hold of the hand of the blind man, he led him outside of the town; and having spit into his eyes, having placed his hands to him, he asks him if anything he sees.

8:24And having looked up he said, I see men as trees, walking.

8:25Then again he placed the hands upon his eyes, and he made him to look up. And he was restored, and he looked clearly on all.

8:26And he sent him unto his house, saying, Neither into the town should you enter, nor should you speak to any in the town.

8:27And Jesus went forth, and his disciples, into the towns of Caesarea, the one of Philippi. And in the way he asks his disciples, saying to them, Who do men say me to be?

8:28And they answered, John the Baptist; and others Elijah; and others, One of the prophets.

8:29And he says to them, And you, whom do you say me to be? And answering Peter says to him, You are the Christ.

8:30And he gave reproach to them that to no one they should tell concerning him.

8:31And he began to teach them that it is necessary for the son of man to suffer many things, and to be rejected by the elders, and chief priests, and scribes, and to be killed, and after three days to rise up.

8:32And in an open manner he spoke the matter. And Peter taking him to himself began to reproach him.

8:33And he turned. And beholding his disciples he reproached Peter, saying, Go behind me satan! for you do not think the things of God, but the things of men.

8:34And having called the multitude with his disciples, he said to them, Whoever wants to come after me, let him totally reject himself, and lift his cross, and follow me!

8:35For who ever should want to preserve his life shall lose it; and who ever should lose his life because of me and of the good news, this one will preserve it.

8:36For what will it benefit a man, if he should gain the whole world, and suffer loss of his soul?

8:37Or what shall a man give as a bargain for his soul?

8:38For who ever should be ashamed of me and of my words in this adulterous and sinful generation, even the son of man shall be ashamed of him, whenever he should come in the glory of his father with the holy angels.
