Matthew 1
1:1The book of the genealogy of Jesus Christ, son of David, son of Abraham.
1:2Abraham engendered Isaac, and Isaac engendered Jacob, and Jacob engendered Judah and his brothers,
1:3and Judah engendered Perez and Zara from Tamar, and Perez engendered Esrom, and Esrom engendered Aram,
1:4and Aram engendered Aminadab, and Aminadab engendered Naasson, and Naasson engendered Salmon,
1:5and Salmon engendered Boaz from Rahab, and Boaz engendered Obed from Ruth, and Obed engendered Jesse,
1:6and Jesse engendered David the king, and David the king engendered Solomon from the wife of Uriah.
1:7And Solomon engendered Rehoboam, and Rehoboam engendered Abia, and Abia engendered Asa,
1:8and Asa engendered Jehoshaphat, and Jehoshaphat engendered Joram, and Joram engendered Uzziah,
1:9and Uzziah engendered Jotham, and Jotham engendered Ahaz, and Ahaz engendered Hezekiah,
1:10and Hezekiah engendered Manasseh, and Manasseh engendered Amon, and Amon engendered Josiah,
1:11and Josiah engendered Jechoniah and his brethren unto the displacement in Babylon.
1:12And after the displacement of Babylon, Jechoniah engendered Salathiel, and Salathiel engendered Zerubbabel,
1:13and Zerubbabel engendered Abiud, and Abiud engendered Eliakim, and Eliakim engendered Azor,
1:14and Azor engendered Zadok, and Zadok engendered Achim, and Achim engendered Eliud,
1:15and Eliud engendered Eleazar, and Eleazar engendered Matthan, and Matthan engendered Jacob,
1:16and Jacob engendered Joseph the husband of Mary from out of whom was born Jesus, being called Christ.
1:17All then the generations from Abraham unto David -- fourteen generations; and from David unto the displacement of Babylon -- fourteen generations; and from the displacement of Babylon unto the Christ -- fourteen generations.
1:18And the nativity of Jesus Christ was thus. For his mother Mary being espoused to Joseph, before their coming together, was found having one in the womb of holy spirit.
1:19And Joseph her husband, being righteous, and not wanting to make her an example, willed in private to dismiss her.
1:20And of his pondering these things, behold, an angel of the Lord by dream appeared to him, saying, Joseph son of David, you should not fear to take to yourself Mary your wife; for the one in her is engendered of holy spirit.
1:21And she shall bear a son, and you shall call his name Jesus, for he shall deliver his people from their sins.
1:22And this completely happened that should be fulfilled the thing having been spoken by the Lord through the prophet, saying,
1:23Behold, the virgin has one in the womb, and she shall birth a son, and they shall call his name Emmanuel; which is being translated, God with us.
1:24And Joseph having been awakened from the sleep did as the angel of the Lord assigned to him, and he took to himself his wife.
1:25And he knew her not until of which time she bore her first-born son. And he called his name Jesus.
