Luke 24

24:1And day one of the Sabbaths, at deep dawn, they came unto the tomb, bringing aromatics which they prepared, and some others with them.

24:2And they found the stone having been rolled away from the sepluchre.

24:3And having entered, they did not find the body of the Lord Jesus.

24:4And it came to pass in their being perplexed on account of this, that behold, two men stood by them in attire flashing lightning.

24:5And of their being thrown into fear, and leaning the face unto the ground, they said to them, Why do you seek the living with the dead?

24:6He is not here, but arisen. Remember! as he spoke to you still being in Galilee.

24:7Saying that, It is necessary for the son of man to be delivered up into the hands of sinful men, and to be crucified, and on the third day to rise up.

24:8And they remembered his sayings.

24:9And they returned from the sepulchre, to report all these things to the eleven, and to all the rest.

24:10And they were the Magdalene -- Mary, and Joanna, and Mary of James, and the rest with them, the ones who spoke to the apostles these things.

24:11And their words appeared before them as nonsense, and they disbelieved them.

24:12But Peter having risen up, ran unto the sepulchre; and having leaned over, he sees the linen bands being situated alone, and he went forth to his own place wondering at the thing having taken place.

24:13And behold, two of them were going on the same day unto a town at a distance of sixty stadiums from Jerusalem -- the name is Emmaus.

24:14And they were consorting with one another concerning all these things coming to pass.

24:15And it happened during their consorting and debating, that Jesus himself having approached, went with them.

24:16And their eyes were kept to not recognize him.

24:17And he said to them, What words are these which you argue with one another while walking, and are looking downcast?

24:18And answering the one whose name was Cleopas, said to him, You alone sojourn in Jerusalem, and you do not know the things taking place in it in these days?

24:19And he said to them, What kind? And they said to him, The things concerning Jesus the Nazarene, who was a man, a prophet, mighty in work and word before God and all the people.

24:20And how that the chief priests and our rulers delivered him up unto the judgment of death, and they crucified him.

24:21But we were hoping that he is the one about to ransom Israel. But indeed with all these things, today leads in this third day, from which time these things took place.

24:22But also certain women from us amazed us, happening at daybreak unto the sepulchre;

24:23and not having found his body, they came saying also to have seen an apparition of angels, ones who say him to be living.

24:24And some of the ones with us went forth unto the sepulchre, and found it so as also the women said; but him they did not see.

24:25And he said to them, O unthinking ones and slow in heart to trust upon all which the prophets spoke.

24:26Is it not necessary the Christ to suffer these things, and to enter into his glory?

24:27And beginning from Moses, and from all of the prophets, he interpreted to them in all the scriptures the things concerning himself.

24:28And they approached unto the town where they were going. And he pretended to be going farther.

24:29And they pressured him, saying, Stay with us, for it is towards evening, and the day has declined. And he entered to stay with them.

24:30And it came to pass in his lying down to eat with them, having taken the bread, he blessed, and having broken gave it over to them.

24:31And their eyes were opened wide, and they recognized him. And he became invisible to them.

24:32And they said to one another, Was not our heart burning in us as he was speaking to us in the way, and as he opened wide to us the scriptures?

24:33And rising up the same hour, they returned into Jerusalem, and they found the eleven being gathered together, and the ones with them,

24:34saying that, The Lord is risen really, and he appeared to Simon.

24:35And they described the things in the way, and how he was made known to them in the breaking of the bread.

24:36And of their speaking these things, Jesus himself stood in the midst of them, and says to them, Peace to you.

24:37And being terrified, and becoming thrown into fear, they thought they viewed a spirit.

24:38And he said to them, Why are you disturbed? and why do thoughts ascend into your hearts?

24:39Behold my hands and my feet, that I am he! Handle me and see! for a spirit does not have flesh and bones, as you view me having.

24:40And this having said, he displayed to them his hands and his feet.

24:41And yet of their disbelieving from the joy, and marveling, he said to them, Have you anything eatable here?

24:42And they gave over to him part of a roasted fish, and some from a bee's honeycomb.

24:43And having taken before them, he ate.

24:44And he said to them, These are the words which I spoke to you while still being with you, that it is necessary to fulfill all the things being written in the law of Moses, and the prophets, and the Psalms, concerning me.

24:45Then he opened wide their mind to perceive the scriptures.

24:46And he said to them that, Thus it has been written, and thus it is necessary for the Christ to suffer, and to be raised up from the dead in the third day;

24:47and repentance and release of sins to be proclaimed in his name unto all the nations, beginning from Jerusalem.

24:48And you are witnesses of these things.

24:49And behold, I send the promise of my father unto you. But you stay in the city of Jerusalem! until of which time you shall be clothed with power of the height.

24:50And he led them outside as far as unto Bethany. And having lifted up his hands, he blessed them.

24:51And it came to pass in his blessing them, he was parted from them, and was borne into the heaven.

24:52And they having done obeisance to him, returned unto Jerusalem with great joy.

24:53And they were always in the temple, praising and blessing God. Amen.
