Luke 23

23:1And having risen up, all the multitude of them led him unto Pilate.

23:2And they began to charge him saying, This one we find perverting the nation, and preventing tribute to be given to Caesar, saying himself to be Christ the king.

23:3And Pilate asked him, saying, Are you the king of the Jews? And answering to him he said, You say it.

23:4And Pilate said to the chief priests and the multitudes, Not one fault do I find in this man.

23:5And they grew more urgent and violent, saying that, He incites the people, teaching throughout entire Judea, beginning from Galilee unto here.

23:6And Pilate having heard Galilee, asked if the man is a Galilean.

23:7And having realized that he is under the authority of Herod, he sent him to Herod, he being also in Jerusalem in these days.

23:8And Herod beholding Jesus, rejoiced exceedingly, for he was wanting for a fit time to behold him, because of the hearing many things concerning him; and he hoped to behold any sign by him taking place.

23:9And he asked him with a fit amount of words; but he answered to him nothing.

23:10And standing by were the chief priests and the scribes, intensely charging him.

23:11And Herod with his military having treated him with contempt, and having mocked him, having put around him bright attire, sent him back to Pilate.

23:12And they became friends, both Pilate and Herod, in this day with one another; for beforehand they were being at enmity between themselves.

23:13And Pilate, having called together the chief priests and the rulers and the people,

23:14said to them, You brought to me this man as perverting the people. And behold, I before you having questioned him, find nothing in this man for a fault of which to lay charge against him,

23:15and not even Herod; for I sent you to him; and behold, nothing worthy of death is being acted by him.

23:16Correcting him then, I will release him.

23:17(And by necessity he had to release to them each holiday one person).

23:18But they shouted aloud all at once, saying, Take this one, but release to us Barabbas;

23:19who was on account of a certain insurrection having taken place in the city, and for murder, thrown into prison.

23:20Then again, Pilate called out to them, wanting to release Jesus.

23:21But they were sounding out, saying, Crucify! Crucify him!

23:22And the third time he said to them, For what evil did this one do? No fault for death do I find in him; correcting him then I will release him.

23:23And they pressed with great voices, asking for him to be crucified. And their voices prevailed and of the chief priests.

23:24And Pilate adjudged their request to take place.

23:25And he released to them the one through insurrection and murder being thrown into the prison, whom they asked for; but Jesus he delivered up to their will.

23:26And as they led him away, having taken hold of Simon, a certain Cyrenian, coming from the field, they placed upon him the cross, to bear it behind Jesus.

23:27And were following him a great multitude of the people, and women, which also were beating their chest and wailing over him.

23:28And having turned to them, Jesus said, Daughters of Jerusalem, weep not for me! furthermore, weep for yourselves, and for your children!

23:29For behold, there come days in which they shall say, Blessed are the sterile, and bellies which bore not, and breasts which nursed not.

23:30Then they shall begin to say to the mountains, Fall upon us! And to the hills, Cover us!

23:31For if in the wet wood these things they do, what should happen in the dry?

23:32And they led also other two evildoers with him to be done away with.

23:33And when they went forth unto the place being called Skull, there they crucified him, and the evildoers, one on the right, and one on the left.

23:34And Jesus said, O Father, forgive them! for they do not know what they do. And dividing his garments they cast a lot.

23:35And the people stood viewing. And deriding also were the rulers with them, saying, Others he delivered, let him deliver himself! if this is the Christ, the one chosen of God.

23:36And the soldiers also mocked at him, coming forward and bringing vinegar to him,

23:37and saying, If you are the king of the Jews, save yourself!

23:38And there was also an inscription being depicted above him in letters in Greek, and Roman, and Hebrew -- This is the king of the Jews.

23:39And one of the hanging evildoers blasphemed him, saying, If you are the Christ, save yourself and us!

23:40And responding the other reproached him, saying, Not even do you fear God, for you are under the same judgment?

23:41And we indeed justly; for worthy of what we acted, we receive; but this one did not act out of place.

23:42And he said to Jesus, Remember me, O Lord, whenever you should come in to your kingdom.

23:43And Jesus said to him, Amen I say to you, Today with me you will be in paradise.

23:44And it was about the sixth hour, and darkness came upon the entire land until the ninth hour.

23:45And the sun was darkened, and the veil of the temple was split in the middle.

23:46And calling out with a great voice, Jesus said, Father, into your hands I place my spirit. And these things having said he expired.

23:47And the centurion beholding the thing taking place, glorified God, saying, Really, this man was righteous.

23:48And all the multitudes coming together upon this sight, viewing the things having taken place, were beating themselves on the breast returning.

23:49And all the ones who knew him stood afar off, even the women following him from Galilee, seeing these things.

23:50And behold, there was a man named Joseph, a counselor, being a good man and just,

23:51(this one was not assenting together with the counsel and their action) from Arimathea, a city of the Jews, who even was waiting also himself the kingdom of God.

23:52This one came forward to Pilate to ask the body of Jesus.

23:53And having lowered it, he swathed it in fine linen, and he put it in a tomb of dressed stone, of which was not yet any one being laid.

23:54And it was preparation day, and Sabbath evening coming on.

23:55But following closely after also were women, (the ones who were gathered together to him from out of Galilee,) for seeing the sepulchre, and how his body was placed.

23:56And having returned, they prepared aromatics and perfumed liquids; and on the Sabbath they were tranquil according to the commandment.
