Job 38
38:1And after the ceasing of the speech of Elihu, the lord said to Job through a tempest and cloud, saying,
38:2Who is this hiding counsel, and constraining matters in heart, and imagines to hide from me?
38:3Tie up your loin as a man! And I will ask you, and you answer me!
38:4Where were you in my laying the foundation for the earth? And report to me! if you should have knowledge of understanding.
38:5Who established the measures of it, if you know? Or who is the one bringing a measuring cord upon it?
38:6Upon what are its hooks pitched on? And who is the one laying an angular foundation stone upon it?
38:7When the stars came to pass, all my angels praised me with a great voice.
38:8And I shut up the sea with gates, when it was led irresistibly going forth out of its mother's belly.
38:9And I established the cloud for its clothing, and fog for its being swaddled.
38:10And I established limits for it, I put in place bolts and gates.
38:11And I said to it, Unto this far you shall come, and shall not pass over; and within yourself your waves shall break.
38:12Or by you have I ordered the early morning brightness? And did the morning star behold his own order;
38:13to take hold of the wings of the earth, to shake off the impious from it.
38:14Or did you, having taken earth's clay, shape a living creature, and establish the power of speech to it upon the earth?
38:15And have you removed the light from the impious, and broke the arm of the proud?
38:16Did you come unto the spring of the sea, and walk in the tracks of the deep?
38:17And do the gates of death open to you in fear; and did gatekeepers of Hades, in beholding you, become alarmed?
38:18And have you been admonished about the breadth under heaven? Announce it indeed to me! how great it is.
38:19And of what kind of land lodges the light? And darkness, what kind of place?
38:20If you could lead me into their limits, and even if you know their paths.
38:21Have you known that it is so then because you were born, and the number of your years great?
38:22But did you come unto the treasuries of snow? and have you seen the treasuries of hail?
38:23And is it reserved to you for the hour of the enemies, for the day of war and battle?
38:24And from what place goes forth the frost, or the south wind is dispersed into the place under heaven?
38:25And who prepared the flow of the fierce rain, and a way in uproar;
38:26to rain upon the land of which there is no man, the wilderness of which there is no man existing in it;
38:27so as to fill the untrodden and uninhabited land, and the causing to sprout forth the issue of tender shoots?
38:28Who is the rain's father, and who is the one giving birth to droplets of dew?
38:29And from out of whose womb comes forth the ice; and who gave birth to the frost in the heaven,
38:30which comes down as if water flowing? And who alarmed the face of the abyss?
38:31And do you perceive the bond of Pleiades; and did you open the barrier of Orion?
38:32Or will you open Mazuroth in its time? And Hesperus with its tail -- will you lead it?
38:33And do you know the circuits of heaven, or the things taking place with one accord under heaven?
38:34And will you call a cloud by voice, and in trembling will the fierce water of rain obey you?
38:35And will you send thunderbolts? and will they go forth? and shall they say to you, What is it?
38:36And who gave women wisdom for a woven work, or skill for embroidery?
38:37And who is the one counting clouds in wisdom, and leaned the heaven unto the earth,
38:38and it is poured as earth's powder, and I have cleaved it as a stone cube?
38:39And will you hunt a prey for the lions? and fill up the souls of dragons?
38:40for they are in awe in their lairs, and they sit in the woods lying in wait.
38:41And who prepared carrion for the crow? for its young in wandering cry out to the lord seeking grain.
