Job 16
16:1And undertaking, Job says,
16:2I have heard many such things. You are all bad comforters.
16:3For what, is there order in words of wind? or what shall it trouble you that you answer?
16:4I also could speak as you if indeed your life laid instead of my life. So then I shall assail against you with words, and I will shake my head as you.
16:5And may that there be strength in my mouth, then I would not spare the movement of my lips.
16:6For if I shall speak my wound shall not ache; and if also I keep silent, how less will I be pierced?
16:7But now, he has made me exhausted, a festering moron, and it took hold of me.
16:8For I became a testimony, and my lie rose up in me; according to my face it was answered.
16:9In anger the one dealing with me cast me down; he gnashed against me with his teeth; the arrows of his marauders have fallen upon me;
16:10he assailed me with the sharp points of his eyes; he smote me onto my knees; and with one accord they ran upon me.
16:11For the lord delivered me into the hands of the unjust, and unto the impious he tossed me.
16:12Making peace he effaced me; taking me by the hair of the head he plucked it out; he placed me as if an exemplar.
16:13They encircled me with lances, casting into my kidney, not sparing; they poured out my bile onto the earth.
16:14They threw me down, downfall upon downfall; they ran against me prevailing;
16:15they sewed sackcloth upon my hide; and my strength was extinguished in the ground.
16:16My belly burns from weeping, and upon my eyelids a shadow of death.
16:17And there was not one unjust thing in my hands, and my vow is pure.
16:18O earth, you should not cover over the blood of my flesh, nor may there be a place for my cry.
16:19And now behold, my witness is in the heavens, and my joint witness is in the highest.
16:20May my supplication arrive unto the lord, and before him may my eye drip tears.
16:21And may it be reproof to man before the lord, and to a son of man to his neighbor.
16:22But counted years have come; and in the way in which I shall not be returned -- I shall go.
