Ezekiel 40

40:1And it came to pass in the fifth and twentieth year of our captivity, in the first month, the tenth of the month, in the fourteenth year after the capturing the city, in that day the hand of the lord came upon me,

40:2and it led me in a vision of God into the land of Israel, and put me upon an exceedingly high mountain. And upon it was as the construction of a city before me.

40:3And he brought me there, and behold, a man. And his appearance was as the appearance of shining brass, and in his hand was a string measure of builders, and a reed measure. And he set them at the gate.

40:4And the man said to me, You see, O son of man! With your eyes behold, and with your ears hear, and arrange in your heart all as much as I show to you! For on account of showing to you you entered here. And I will show all things, as much as you see in the house of Israel.

40:5And behold, there was an enclosure from outside the house round about, and in the hand of the man was a reed, the measure of six cubits by a cubit and a palm. And he measured the area around the wall; the width equal to the reed, and the height of it equal to the reed.

40:6And he entered into the gate, the one looking according to the east, by seven steps. And he measured the vestibule -- six by six; the columned porch of the gate was equal to the reed in width.

40:7And the vestibule was equal to the reed in length, and equal to the reed in width; and the columned porch in the midst of the chambers -- six cubits. And the second vestibule was equal to the reed in width, and equal to the reed in length; and the columned porch -- five cubits.

40:8And the third vestibule equal to the reed in length, and equal to the reed in width.

40:9And the columned porch of the gatehouse neighboring the columned porch of the gate -- eight cubits, and the portals -- two cubits, and the columned porches of the gate were inside.

40:10And the columned porch of the gate within, and the vestibule of the gate in front, were three on this side and three on that side; and there was one measure to the three; one measure to the columned porches on this side and that side.

40:11And he measured the width of the door of the gatehouse -- ten cubits; and the breadth of the gatehouse -- thirteen cubits.

40:12And one cubit assembling in front of the vestibules; and one cubit border on this side and on that side. And the vestibule -- six cubits on this side, and six cubits on that side.

40:13And he measured the gate from the wall of the vestibule unto the wall of the vestibule; the width -- twenty five cubits, this gate unto gate.

40:14And the open space of the columned porch of the gate -- sixty cubits, and to the vestibules of the gate round about.

40:15And the open space of the gate outside to the open space of the columned porch of the gate inside -- fifty cubits.

40:16And there were hidden windows unto the vestibules, and unto the columned porches inside the gate of the courtyard round about, and likewise of the pediments windows round about inside; and there were palms for the columned porch on this side and that side.

40:17And he brought me into the inner courtyard. And behold, there were cubicles and peristyles of the courtyard round about; thirty cubicles in the peristyles.

40:18And the stoas were according to the back of the gates; the peristyle underneath was according to the length of the gates.

40:19And he measured the width of the courtyard from the open space of the outer gate unto the inner; unto the open space of the gate inner looking outside -- a hundred cubits of the one looking according to the east; and he led me unto the north.

40:20And behold, there was a gate looking to the north belonging to the outer courtyard; and he measured it, the length of it, and the width;

40:21and the vestibule -- three on this side and three on that side; and the portal, and the pediments, and its palms. And it was according to the measures of the gate looking according to the east; its length was fifty cubits, and its breadth twenty-five cubits.

40:22And its windows, and the pediments, and its palms were as the gate looking according to the east. And in seven steps they ascended unto it; and the pediments were within.

40:23And there was a gate to the inner courtyard looking towards the gate of the north, in the manner of the gate looking according to the east. And he measured the courtyard from gate unto gate -- a hundred cubits.

40:24And he led me according to the south. And behold, there was a gate looking to the south; and he measured it, and the vestibules, and the portals, and the pediments according to these measures.

40:25And its windows and the pediments round about were as the windows of the columned porch; its length was fifty cubits, and twenty-five cubits its breadth.

40:26And there were seven steps for it, and pediments within, and its palms were one on this side and one on that side upon the portals.

40:27And there was a gate opposite of the gate of the inner courtyard to the south. And he measured the courtyard from gate unto gate -- a hundred cubits was the breadth towards the south.

40:28And he brought me into the inner courtyard of the gate, of the one towards the south. And he measured the gate according to these measures;

40:29and the vestibules, and the portals,

40:30and the pediments, according to these measures. And there were windows to it; and to the pediment round about -- fifty cubits the length, and its breadth -- twenty-five cubits.

40:31And its pediments to the outer courtyard -- palms to the portals and with eight steps ascending upon it.

40:32And he brought me into the inner courtyard a way according to the east. And he measured the door according to these measures;

40:33and the vestibules, and the portals, and the pediments according to these measures; and its windows and the pediments round about. Fifty cubits was the length, and its breadth twenty-five cubits.

40:34And there were pediments opening the inner courtyard, and palms of its portals on this side and that side, and eight steps ascending upon it.

40:35And he brought me unto the door, the one towards the north; and he measured according to these measures;

40:36and the vestibules, and the portals, and the pediments; and its windows round about. Fifty cubits was the length, and the breadth twenty-five cubits.

40:37And the portals of outer courtyard, and palms of portals on this side and that side, and eight steps.

40:38And its cubicles and its doorways, and its pediments were at the second gate outflow,

40:39so that they should slay in it the things for a sin offering, and the things for an ignorance offering.

40:40And in back of the overflow of the whole burnt-offerings, of the part looking to the north, were two tables; and according to the back of the other and to the columned porch of the gate were two tables according to the east.

40:41Four tables were on this side, and four on that side, according to the back of the gate; upon them they slay the things offered for sacrifices. And over against the eight tables of the things offered for sacrifices.

40:42And there were four tables of the whole burnt-offerings, having been made of dressed stones -- a cubit and a half was the width, and two cubits and a half was the length; and a cubit was the height; upon them they placed the items with which they slew the whole burnt-offerings there, and the animals which are offered in sacrifice.

40:43And they shall have a palm sized dressed stone waved border inside round about; and over the tables on top were roofs to cover up from the rain and the dryness.

40:44And he brought me into the inner courtyard; and behold, there were two inner chambers in the inner courtyard; one according to the back of the gate of the one to the north bearing according to the south. And one according to the back of the gate of the one towards the south of the one looking towards the north.

40:45And he said to me, This inner chamber, the one looking towards the south is to the priests, the ones keeping the guard of the house.

40:46And the inner chamber, the one looking towards the north is to the priests, to the ones keeping the guard of the altar; those are the sons of Zadok, the ones approaching of the sons of Levi towards the lord to officiate to him.

40:47And he measured the courtyard length -- a hundred cubits, and the breadth a hundred cubits upon its four parts; and the altar before the house.

40:48And he brought me unto the columned porch of the house; and he measured the portal of the columned porch -- five cubits was the width on this side, and five cubits on that side; and the breadth of the doorway -- fourteen cubits, and side-pieces of the door of the columned porch -- three cubits on this side, and three cubits on that side.

40:49And the length of the columned porch -- twenty cubits, and the breadth -- twelve cubits; and upon ten stairs they ascended unto it; and there were columns upon the columned porch, one from here and one from here.
