Acts 2

2:1And in the filling up the days of Pentecost, they were all together with one accord in the same place.

2:2And came suddenly from out of the heaven a sound as if of a violent breath being brought, and filled the whole house of which they were settled.

2:3And appeared to them divided tongues as of fire, and it sat upon each one of them.

2:4And they were filled all together of holy spirit, and they began to speak with other languages, as the spirit gave to them to be declared.

2:5And there were Jews dwelling in Jerusalem, reverent men from every nation of the ones under the heaven.

2:6And the report of this having taken place, the multitude came together and were confounded, for they heard each one of them speaking in his own dialect.

2:7And they were amazed and marvelled, saying to one another, Behold are these not all, the ones speaking, Galileans?

2:8And how hear we each in our own dialect, in which we were born --

2:9Parthians, and Medes, and Elamites, and the ones inhabiting Mesopotamia, and Judea, and Cappadocia, Pontus, and Asia,

2:10both Phrygia and Pamphylia, Egypt, and the parts of Libya of the one about Cyrene, and the Romans emigrating here, both Jews and converts,

2:11Cretans and Arabians -- we hear them speaking in our own languages the magnificent things of God.

2:12And all were amazed and perplexed, saying the other to another, What ever would this be?

2:13But others taunting said that, They are stuffed with sweet new wine.

2:14And Peter standing with the eleven, lifted up his voice, and declared to them, Men, Jews, and all the ones dwelling in Jerusalem; let this be made known to you, and give ear to my words!

2:15For these are not intoxicated as you undertake, for it is the third hour of the day.

2:16But this is the thing being spoken by the prophet Joel,

2:17And it will be in the last days, says God, I will pour out from my spirit upon all flesh; and your sons and your daughters shall prophesy; and your young men shall see visions, and your old men shall dream dreams.

2:18And indeed upon my manservants and upon my maidservants in those days I will pour out from my spirit; and they shall prophesy.

2:19And I will execute miracles in the heaven upward, and signs upon the earth below; blood, and fire, and vapor of smoke.

2:20The sun shall be converted into darkness, and the moon into blood, before the coming -- the great and apparent day of the Lord.

2:21And it shall be all who ever should call upon the name of the Lord shall be delivered.

2:22Men, Israelites, hear these words! Jesus the Nazarene, a man from God exhibited unto you powers and miracles and signs, which God did through him in your midst, as even you yourselves know.

2:23This one delivered up by the confirmed counsel and foreknowledge of God; having taken, you did away with by lawless hands staking him up.

2:24Whom God raised up, having loosed the pangs of death; in so far as it was not possible for him to be held by it.

2:25For David says concerning him, I foresaw the Lord before me continually; for he is at my right hand that I shall not be shaken.

2:26On account of this my heart was made merry, and my tongue exulted; but still also my flesh shall encamp in hope.

2:27For you shall not abandon my soul into Hades, nor shall you give your sacred one to see corruption.

2:28You made known to me the ways of life; you shall fill me with gladness with your countenance.

2:29Men, brethren, it is allowed to speak with an open manner to you concerning the patriarch David, that both he came to an end and was entombed, and his tomb is among us as far as this day.

2:30A prophet then being, and knowing that God swore to him an oath, (of the fruit of his loin, the one according to the flesh,) to raise up the Christ, to sit upon his throne,

2:31looking out ahead he spoke concerning the resurrection of the Christ, that his soul was not left in Hades, nor his flesh saw corruption.

2:32This Jesus God raised up, of which all we are witnesses.

2:33By the right hand then of God having been raised up high, and the promise of the holy spirit having received by the father, he poured out this which you now see and hear.

2:34For David did not ascend into the heavens. For he says himself, The Lord said to my Lord, Sit down at my right,

2:35until whenever I should establish your enemies as a footstool of your feet.

2:36With certainty then let all the house of Israel know! that God made him both Lord and Christ -- this Jesus whom you crucified.

2:37And having heard, they were vexed in the heart, and they said to Peter and the rest of the apostles, What shall we do men, brethren?

2:38And Peter said to them, Repent, and be immersed each of you in the name of Jesus Christ for a release of sins! and you shall receive the present of the holy spirit.

2:39For to you is the promise, and to your children, and to all the ones far away, as many as should call on the Lord our God.

2:40And with many more other words he testified and appealed, saying, Be delivered from this crooked generation.

2:41The ones indeed then gladly receiving his word were immersed; and were added in that day about three thousand souls.

2:42And they were attending constantly in the teaching of the apostles, and in the fellowship, and in the breaking of bread, and in the prayers.

2:43And fear came to every soul; and many miracles and signs took place through the apostles.

2:44But all the ones believing were together, and had all in common.

2:45And the possessions and the things of substance they sold, and they divided them to all in so far as anyone had need.

2:46And by day attending constantly with one accord in the temple, and breaking bread in their houses, they shared provision with exultation and simplicity of heart,

2:47praising God, and having favor with all the people. And the Lord added the ones being delivered daily to the assembly.
