2 Peter 3

3:1This already, beloved, a second letter I write to you, in which I awaken your honest consideration in recollection,

3:2to remember the before described sayings by the holy prophets, and of the commandment of the Lord and deliverer of us the apostles.

3:3This first knowing, that mockers will come at the last of the days, going according to their own lusts,

3:4and saying, Where is the promise of his arrival? For from of which time the fathers went to sleep, all things thus continue from the beginning of creation.

3:5For this escaped their notice willingly, that heavens were of old, and an earth from out of water and through water stood together by the word of God;

3:6through of which things the world then perished having been flooded by water.

3:7But the present heavens and the earth, the one of his word, are treasured up for fire being kept for a day of judgment and destruction of impious men.

3:8But this one thing let it not be unaware to you, beloved, that one day with the Lord is as a thousand years, and a thousand years as one day.

3:9The Lord is not slow of promise, as some esteem slowness, but is long-suffering towards us, not willing for anyone to perish, but for all to have space for repentance.

3:10But shall come the day of the Lord as a thief in the night, in which the heavens by a loud noise shall pass away, and the elements being destroyed by fire shall be loosed; and the earth and the works in it shall be incinerated.

3:11These things then all being loosed, what kind of persons must you be in holy behavior and piety,

3:12expecting and hastening the arrival of the day of God, by which the heavens being set on fire shall be loosed, and the elements being destroyed by fire shall melt away?

3:13But new heavens and a new earth, according to his declaration, we expect, in which righteousness dwells.

3:14Therefore, beloved, these things expecting, endeavor to be found by him spotless and without blemish in peace!

3:15And esteem the long-suffering deliverance of our Lord; as also our beloved brother Paul, according to the wisdom given to him, wrote to you,

3:16as also in all the letters, speaking in them concerning these things; in which some things are hard to comprehend, which the illiterate and unstable make crooked, as also the rest of scriptures, to their own destruction.

3:17You then, beloved, foreknowing, guard that not by the delusion of the unlawful ones having been led away, you should fall from your own steadfastness!

3:18But grow in the favor and knowledge of our Lord and deliverer Jesus Christ! To him be the glory both now and into the day of the eon. Amen.
