1 Chronicles 15

15:1And he made for himself houses in the city of David. And he prepared a place for the ark of God, and pitched for it a tent.

15:2Then said David, No one is to lift the ark of God except the Levites; for the lord chose them to lift the ark of the lord, and to officiate to him unto the eon.

15:3And David gathered all Israel to Jerusalem, to bear the ark of the lord into the place which he prepared for it.

15:4And David gathered the sons of Aaron, and the Levites.

15:5Of the sons of Kohath; Uriel the ruler, and his brethren -- a hundred and twenty.

15:6Of the sons of Merari; Asiah the ruler, and his brethren -- two hundred and twenty.

15:7Of the sons of Gershon; Joel the ruler, and his brethren -- a hundred and thirty.

15:8Of the sons of Elizaphan; Shemaiah the ruler, and his brethren -- two hundred.

15:9Of the sons of Hebron; Eliel the ruler, and his brethren -- eighty.

15:10Of the sons of Uzziel; Amminadab the ruler, and his brethren -- a hundred and twelve.

15:11And David called Zadok and Abiathar the priests, and the Levites -- Uriel, Asiah, and Joel, and Shemaiah, and Eliel, and Amminadab.

15:12And he said to them, You are the rulers of the families of the Levites. Purify yourselves and your brethren! even to bear the ark of the lord God of Israel, of which I prepared for it.

15:13For you were not being ready prior, and the lord our God cut through among us, for we did not seek him in practice.

15:14And the priests and the Levites purified themselves to bring the ark of the lord God of Israel.

15:15And the sons of the Levites lifted the ark of God (as Moses gave charge by the word of the lord according to the writing) with the bearing poles on their shoulders.

15:16And David said to the rulers of the Levites, You shall station their brethren the psalm singers with instruments for odes, with stringed instruments, lutes, and cymbals, to sound out loud on high with the voice of gladness.

15:17And the Levites stationed Heman son of Joel, and of his brethren, Asaph son Berechiah; and of the sons of Merari his brethren, Ethan son of Kushaiah.

15:18And with them their brethren the ones second ranked -- Zechariah son of Jaaziel, and Shemiramoth, and Jehiel, and Unni, and Eliab, and Benaiah, and Maaseiah, and Mattithiah, and Elipheleh, and Mikneiah, and Obed Edom, and Jeiel, the gatekeepers.

15:19And the singers, Heman, Asaph, and Ethan, to cause to be heard with cymbals of brass.

15:20And Zachariah, and Aziel, and Shimiramoth and Jehiel, and Unni, and Eliab, and Masseiah, and Benaiah, with stringed instruments upon Alamoth.

15:21And Mattithiah, and Elipheleh, and Mikneiah, and Obed Edom, and Jeiel, and Azaziah, with lutes with octaves growing in strength.

15:22And Chenaniah ruler of the Levites was ruler of the odes, for he was discerning.

15:23And Berechiah and Elkanah were gatekeepers of the ark.

15:24And Shebaniah, and Jehoshaphat, and Nethaneel, and Amasai, and Zechariah, and Benaiah, and Eliezer the priests, were trumpeting with the trumpets before the ark of God. And Obed Edom and Jehiah were gatekeepers of the ark.

15:25And David was, and the elders of Israel, and the commanders of thousands, the ones going to bring the ark of the covenant of the lord from out of the house of Obed Edom in gladness.

15:26And it came to pass in the strengthening by God, of the Levites lifting the ark of the covenant of the lord, that they sacrificed seven calves and seven rams.

15:27And David was being girded in a robe of fine linen, and all the Levites lifting the ark of the covenant of the lord, and the psalm singers, and Chenaniah the ruler of the odes of the ones singing. And upon David was an ephod of fine linen.

15:28And all Israel was leading the ark of the covenant of the lord with a cheer, and with a sound of the ram's horn, and with trumpets, and with cymbals, sounding out loud with stringed instruments, and with lutes.

15:29And it came to pass, and the ark of the covenant of the lord came unto the city of David, and Michal the daughter of Saul leaned over through the window, and she beheld king David dancing and playing; and she treated him with contempt in her soul.
