Philemon 1

1:1Paul, a prisoner of Christ Jesus, and Timothy the brother, to Philemon the beloved, and our fellow-worker,

1:2and to Apphia the beloved, and Archippus our fellow-soldier, and to the assembly at your house.

1:3Favor to you, and peace from God our father and of the Lord Jesus Christ.

1:4I give thanks to my God, at all times making mention of you at my prayers,

1:5hearing the love of yours, and the belief which you have towards the Lord Jesus, and to all the holy ones,

1:6that the fellowship of the belief of yours should become active in full knowledge of every good work, of the one in you in Christ Jesus.

1:7For we have much gratitude and comfort over your love, because the feelings of compassion of the holy ones have been rested through you, O brother.

1:8Therefore, having a great openness in Christ, to give orders to you, the thing related,

1:9I appeal rather through the love, being such a one as Paul an old man, and now also a prisoner of Jesus Christ.

1:10I appeal to you concerning my child, whom I engendered in my bonds, Onesimus,

1:11the one at some time or other useless to you, but now useful to you and to me, whom I sent back to you.

1:12But you (that is for him) receive the things concerning my feelings of compassion!

1:13whom I wanted to keep for myself, that for you he should be serving to me in the bonds of the good news.

1:14But without the help of your opinion I wanted to do nothing; that your good should not be as according to necessity, but as voluntary.

1:15For perhaps on account of this he was separated for an hour, that eternally you should receive him;

1:16no longer as a bondman, but above a bondman, a beloved brother, especially to me, and how much more to you, both in flesh and in the Lord.

1:17If then you have me for a partner, receive him as me!

1:18And if in anything he wronged you or owes, charge this to me!

1:19I, Paul, write in my hand. I will pay -- for I should not say to you that even yourself owes me besides.

1:20Yes, O brother, may I oblige you in the Lord; rest my feelings of compassion in the Lord!

1:21Relying upon your obedience, I wrote to you, knowing that even above what I say you will do.

1:22But at the same time also prepare for me a guest room! For I hope that through your prayers I shall be granted to you.

1:23They greet you -- Epaphras, my fellow-captive in Christ Jesus;

1:24Mark, Aristarchus, Demas, Luke, my fellow workers.

1:25The favor of our Lord Jesus Christ be with your spirit. Amen.
