Matthew 4

4:1Then Jesus was led into the wilderness by the spirit, to be tested by the devil.

4:2And he fasted forty days and forty nights; afterwards he hungered.

4:3And having come forward to him, the one testing said, If you are son of God, speak! that these stones should become bread loaves.

4:4And responding he said, It has been written, Not by bread alone shall a man live, but by every word coming forth by the mouth of God.

4:5Then the devil takes him unto the holy city, and he stands him upon the border of the temple.

4:6And he says to him, If you are son of God, throw yourself below! for it has been written that, To his angels he shall give charge concerning you; and by hands they shall lift you, lest at any time you should stumble your foot against a stone.

4:7Jesus said to him, Again it has been written, You shall not put to test the Lord your God.

4:8Again the devil takes him unto an exceedingly high mountain, and shows to him all the kingdoms of the world, and their glory.

4:9And he says to him, All these I will give to you, if falling down you should do obeisance to me.

4:10Then Jesus says to him, Go behind me Satan! For it is written, You shall do obeisance to the Lord your God, and to him alone you shall serve.

4:11Then the devil left him; and behold, angels came forward and served to him.

4:12And Jesus having heard that John was delivered up, withdrew into Galilee.

4:13And leaving Nazareth, coming he dwelt in Capernaum by the sea, in the borders of Zebulun and Naphtali;

4:14that the word through Isaiah the prophet should be fulfilled, saying,

4:15Land of Zebulun and land of Naphtali, way of the sea, on the other side of the Jordan; Galilee of the nations.

4:16The people sitting in darkness beheld a great light; and to the ones sitting in a place and shadow of death light arose to them.

4:17From then Jesus began to proclaim and to say, Repent! for the kingdom of the heavens approaches.

4:18And Jesus walking by the sea of Galilee, beheld two brothers -- Simon the one being called Peter, and Andrew his brother, throwing a casting-net into the sea -- for they were fishermen.

4:19And he says to them, Come after me! and I will make you fishers of men.

4:20And they immediately having left the nets followed him.

4:21And advancing from there, he beheld another two brothers -- James the son of Zebedee, and John his brother, in the boat with Zebedee their father, readying their nets; and he called them.

4:22And immediately having left the boat and their father, they followed him.

4:23And Jesus led about all Galilee teaching in their synagogues, and proclaiming the good news of the kingdom, and curing every disease and every infirmity among the people.

4:24And went forth the report of him into all Syria. And they brought to him all the ones having an illness with various diseases, and being held by torments, and ones being demon-possessed, and ones acting as lunatic, and paralytics; and he cured them.

4:25And great multitudes followed him from Galilee, and Decapolis, and Jerusalem, and Judea, and on the other side of the Jordan.
