Mark 4

4:1And again he began to teach by the sea. And was gathered together to him a great multitude, so that he having stepped into the boat, sat down in the sea; and all the multitude close to the sea were upon the ground.

4:2And he taught them in parables many things, and said to them in his teaching,

4:3Hearken! Behold, went forth the one sowing to sow.

4:4And it came to pass in the sowing, some seed fell by the way, and the birds of the heaven came and devoured it.

4:5And other fell upon the rocky place, where it did not have much earth; and immediately it rose up, because of the not having a depth of earth.

4:6And the sun having arisen, it was scorched, and because of the not having root it was dried up.

4:7And other fell into the thorns, and the thorns ascended, and choked it, and it did not give fruit.

4:8And other fell into the good earth, and gave fruit ascending and growing; and one bore thirty, and one sixty, and one a hundred.

4:9And he said to them, The one having ears to hear, let him hear!

4:10And when he was alone, they asked him, (the ones around him with the twelve,) the parable.

4:11And he said to them, To you has been given to know the mystery of the kingdom of God; but to those, to the ones outside, all things happen in parables.

4:12That in seeing they should see, and not know; and in hearing they should hear, and not perceive; lest at any time they should turn, and their sins should be forgiven them.

4:13And he says to them, Do you not know this parable? and how shall you know all the parables?

4:14The one sowing sows the word.

4:15And these are the ones by the way where the word is sown; and whenever they hear, immediately comes Satan and takes away the word, the one being sown in their hearts.

4:16And these are in like manner the ones upon the rocky places being sown; the ones whenever they should hear the word, immediately with joy they receive it;

4:17and they do not have root in themselves, but are temporary; then when affliction happens or persecution because of the word, immediately they are caused to stumble.

4:18And these are the ones among the thorns being sown; the ones having heard the word,

4:19and the anxieties of this eon, and the deception of the riches, and on account of the remaining desires entering in, they choke the word, and it becomes unfruitful.

4:20And these are the ones having been sown upon the good earth; the ones who hear the word, and welcome it, and bear fruit -- one thirty, and one sixty, and one a hundred.

4:21And he said to them, Does the lamp come out that it should be put under the bushel, or under the bed? Is it not that it should be placed upon the lamp-stand?

4:22For not is anything hidden which should not be made manifest, nor becomes concealed, but that it should come into the open.

4:23If any has ears to hear let him hear!

4:24And he said to them, Take heed what you hear! In what measure you measure, it shall be measured to you. And to the ones hearing it shall be added to you.

4:25For who ever has, it shall be given to him; and the one who does not have, even what he has shall be taken from him.

4:26And he said, Thus is the kingdom of God, as if a man should cast the seed upon the ground,

4:27and should sleep, and should arise night and day, and the seed should burst forth, and should lengthen as he knows not.

4:28For by itself the earth bears fruit; first the blade, then stalk, then the full grain in the stalk.

4:29And whenever the fruit should be delivered up, immediately he sends the sickle, for the harvest stands by.

4:30And he said, To what should we liken the kingdom of God? or by what kind of parable shall we compare it?

4:31As a kernel of mustard, which whenever it should be sown upon the ground is lesser than all the seeds of the ones upon the earth.

4:32And whenever it should be sown it ascends and becomes greater than all the vegetation, and produces great branches, so as to enable the birds of heaven to encamp under its shade.

4:33And with such many parables he spoke to them the word, as they were able to hear.

4:34And without parables he did not speak to them. But in private he explained all to his disciples.

4:35And he says to them in that day, Evening becoming, we should go through unto the other side.

4:36And letting go the multitude, they take him with themselves, as he was in the boat. But also other small boats were with him.

4:37And comes a tempest of a great wind, and the waves put upon into the boat, so that it already was filling.

4:38And he was himself at the stern upon the pillow sleeping. And they awaken him, and say to him, Teacher, is it not a care to you that we perish?

4:39And having awakened, he gave reproach to the wind, and said to the sea, Be silent! Be halted! And the wind abated, and there became a great calm.

4:40And he said to them, Why are you so timid? How do you not have belief?

4:41And they feared a great fear, and they said to one another, Who then is this, that even the wind and the sea obey him?
