Genesis 15

15:1And after these words came the word of the lord to Abram in a vision, saying, Do not fear Abram, I will shield you. Your wage will be exceedingly much.

15:2And Abram says, Master, O lord, what will you give to me, for I am wasting away childless, but the son of Masek of my native-born maid servant, this Damascus Eliezer is heir?

15:3And Abram said, Since to me you gave not a seed, then my native-born servant will be heir to me.

15:4And straightly the voice of the lord came to him, saying, This one will not be heir to you, another will come forth from you, this one will be heir to you.

15:5And he led him outside, and said to him, Look up indeed into the heaven, and count out the stars, if you are able to count them! And he said, Thus will be your seed.

15:6And Abram trusted in God, and it was imputed to him for righteousness.

15:7And he said to him, I am the God leading you from out of the place of the Chaldeans, so as to give to you this land to inherit.

15:8And he said, Master, O lord, how will I know that I will inherit it?

15:9And he said to him, Take for me a heifer being three years old, and a goat being three years old, and a ram being three years old, and a turtle-dove, and a pigeon!

15:10And he took to himself all these, and he divided them in the middle, and put them facing one another; but the birds he did not divide.

15:11And birds came down upon the pieces of their bodies, and Abram sat down with them.

15:12And about the descent of the sun a change of state fell upon Abram. And behold, a great dark fear fell upon him.

15:13And it was said to Abram, In knowing you will know that your seed will be a sojourner in a land not their own, and they will enslave them, and will afflict them, and humble them four hundred years.

15:14But the nation which ever they may be slave to, I will judge. And after these things they shall come forth here with much belongings.

15:15But you shall go forth to your fathers with peace, being entombed in a good old age.

15:16And the fourth generation shall return here, for not yet have the sins of the Amorites been filled up unto the present.

15:17And when the sun was in descent, a flame came, and behold, there was an oven smoking; and there were lamps of fire which went through in the midst of these pieces.

15:18In that day the lord ordained a covenant with Abram, saying, To your seed I will give this land, from the river of Egypt unto the river of the great Euphrates,

15:19the Kenites, and the Kenizites, and the Kadmonites,

15:20and the Hittites, and the Perizzites, and the Raphaim,

15:21and the Amorites, and the Canaanites, and the Girgashites, and the Jebusites.
