Acts 8

8:1And Saul was assenting with his removal. And came to pass in that day a great persecution against the assembly, the one in Jerusalem; and all were dispersed throughout the places of Judea and Samaria, except the apostles.

8:2And reverent men collected up Stephen, and were making a great beating of the breast over him.

8:3But Saul laid waste the assembly entering by houses. Dragging both men and women, he delivered them up into prison.

8:4The ones then being scattered went through announcing good news -- the word.

8:5And Philip going down unto a city of Samaria, proclaimed to them the Christ.

8:6And the multitudes took heed to the things being said by Philip with one accord, in their hearing and seeing the signs which he did.

8:7For many of the ones having unclean spirits, yelling a great voice came forth; and many having been disabled and lame were cured.

8:8And came to pass a great joy in that city.

8:9And a certain man, by name Simon, beforehand in the city was practicing magic, and amazing the nation of Samaria, saying himself to be some great one.

8:10To whom all gave heed from small unto great, saying, This one is the power of the great God.

8:11And they were giving heed to him, because for a fit amount of time with the magic he amazed them.

8:12And when they believed Philip announcing good news, the things concerning the kingdom of God, and the name of Jesus Christ, they were immersed, both men and women.

8:13And Simon even himself believed, and having been immersed, was constantly attending to Philip; and viewing works of power and signs being done he was amazed.

8:14And the apostles in Jerusalem having heard that Samaria received the word of God, sent to them Peter and John.

8:15Who having gone down prayed concerning them, that they should receive holy spirit.

8:16For not yet was it falling upon any one of them; but only being immersed in the name of the Lord Jesus.

8:17Then they placed the hands upon them, and they received holy spirit.

8:18And Simon seeing that through the laying on of the hands of the apostles the holy spirit was given, he brought to them things,

8:19saying, Give to me also this authority, that whom ever I should place the hands should receive holy spirit.

8:20And Peter said to him, May your money be with you unto destruction, for you thought the gift of God is to be acquired by things.

8:21There is no portion to you nor lot in this matter; for your heart is not straight before God.

8:22Repent then from this your evil, and beseech God! if then the thought of your heart shall be forgiven you;

8:23for in bile of bitterness, and bond of unrighteousness I see you being.

8:24And responding Simon said, You beseech for me to the Lord! so that nothing should come upon me of which you have said.

8:25They indeed then, testifying and having spoken the word of the Lord, returned unto Jerusalem, and in many towns of the Samaritans they announced good news.

8:26And an angel of the Lord spoke to Philip, saying, Rise up and go according to the south! unto the way going down from Jerusalem unto Gaza; this is wilderness.

8:27And having risen up he went. And behold, there was an Ethiopian man, a eunuch, a mighty one of Candace the queen of the Ethiopians, who was over all her treasury, who had come to do obeisance in Jerusalem.

8:28And he was returning, and sitting upon his chariot. And he read the prophet Isaiah.

8:29And the spirit said to Philip, Draw near and join to this chariot.

8:30And running up, Philip heard him reading the prophet Isaiah, and said, Then indeed you know what you read?

8:31And he said, For how might I be able, unless someone should guide me? And he appealed to Philip having ascended to sit with him.

8:32And the section of the scripture which he read was this, As a sheep unto slaughter he was led, and as a lamb before the one shearing it is voiceless, so he opens not his mouth.

8:33In his humiliation his judgment was taken away. And who shall describe his generation, for his life is taken from the earth?

8:34And the eunuch responding to Philip, said, I beseech you, concerning whom does this prophet speak? concerning himself, or concerning some other?

8:35And Philip having opened his mouth, and having begun from this scripture, announced good news to him -- Jesus.

8:36And as they were going along the way, they came upon some water. And the eunuch says, Behold, water, what prevents me to be immersed?

8:37And Philip said, If you believe of your entire heart, it is allowed. And responding he said, I believe Jesus Christ to be the son of God.

8:38And he urged the chariot to stop. And both went down into the water, both Philip and the eunuch; and he immersed him.

8:39And when they ascended from out of the water, spirit of the Lord seized Philip by force, and the eunuch did not see him any longer; for he went his way rejoicing.

8:40And Philip was found in Azotus; and going through he announced good news to all the cities until he came unto Caesarea.
