Acts 6

6:1And in these days the disciples were multiplying, and there took place a grumbling of the Hellenists against the Hebrews, that their widows were overlooked in the daily service.

6:2And the twelve having called the multitude of the disciples, said, It is not pleasing for us leaving behind the word of God, to serve tables.

6:3Number brethren then! men from among you being witnesses -- seven men, full of holy spirit and wisdom, whom we will place over this need.

6:4But we in prayer and in the service of the word will attend constantly.

6:5And the word was pleasing before all the multitude. And they chose Stephen, a man full of belief and holy spirit, and Philip, and Prochorus, and Nicanor, and Timon, and Parmenas, and Nicolas a convert of Antioch,

6:6whom they stood before the apostles. And having prayed, they placed hands on them.

6:7And the word of God grew, and the number of the disciples was multiplied in Jerusalem exceedingly; also a great multitude of the priests hearkened to the belief.

6:8And Stephen, full of belief and power, did miracles and great signs among the people.

6:9And rose up certain ones of the ones from the synagogue, the one being called Libertines -- and Cyrenians, and Alexandrians, and the ones from Cilicia, and Asia, debating with Stephen.

6:10And they were not able to withstand the wisdom and the spirit which he spoke.

6:11Then they suborned men, saying that, We have heard him speaking blasphemous words against Moses and God.

6:12And they agitated together the people, and the elders, and the scribes; and attending to it they seized him, and brought him to the sanhedrin.

6:13And they set false witnesses, saying, This man does not cease speaking blasphemous words against this holy place, and the law.

6:14For we have heard him saying, that this Jesus the Nazarene will destroy this place, and change the customs which Moses delivered up to us.

6:15And having gazed onto him, all the ones being seated in the sanhedrin beheld his face as the face of an angel.
