Acts 18
18:1And after these things, Paul having separated from Athens, came unto Corinth.
18:2And having found a certain Jew, by name Aquila, of Pontus by race, recently come from Italy, and Priscilla his wife, (because Claudius ordered all the Jews to separate from Rome), he came forward to them.
18:3And because of being the same trade, he stayed with them, and worked; for they were tentmakers by craft.
18:4And he reasoned in the synagogue according to every Sabbath, to persuade both Jews and Greeks.
18:5And when both Silas and Timothy came down from Macedonia, Paul was constrained in the spirit, testifying the Christ to the Jews -- Jesus.
18:6And they being rebellious and blaspheming, having shaken off his garments, he said to them, Your blood be upon your head; I am clean. From now on I shall go unto the nations.
18:7And having crossed over from there, he came unto the house of a certain one, by name Justus, who worshiped God, of whose house was adjoining the synagogue.
18:8But Crispus, the chief of the synagogue trusted in the Lord with his entire house; and many of the Corinthians hearing believed, and were immersed.
18:9And the Lord said by a vision at night to Paul, Fear not, but speak and do not keep silent!
18:10Because I am with you, and no one shall attack you to inflict evil on you, because there are many people with me in this city.
18:11And he stayed a year and six months teaching among them the word of God.
18:12And Gallio being proconsul of Achaia; the Jews rose up against Paul with one accord, and led him unto the rostrum,
18:13saying that, By this law he dissuades men to worship God.
18:14And Paul being about to open his mouth, Gallio said to the Jews, If indeed then it was some offence or evil villainy, O Jews, on this account I would have endured you;
18:15but if the matter is concerning a word and names and a law of yours, you shall see to it yourselves; for I do not want to be a judge of these things.
18:16And he drove them away from the rostrum.
18:17And all the Greeks taking hold of Sosthenes the chief of the synagogue beat him in front of the rostrum; and these things were not a care to Gallio.
18:18But Paul yet having remained a fit amount of days, having dismissed the brethren, sailed across unto Syria, and with him Priscilla and Aquila, having shorn his head in Cenchrea; for he had a vow.
18:19And he arrived in Ephesus, and those he left behind there. But he himself having entered into the synagogue, reasoned with the Jews.
18:20And being asked of them for more time to stay with them, he did not nod assent,
18:21but sent them away, having said, It is necessary for me assuredly with the coming holiday to observe it in Jerusalem; but again I will return to you, God willing. And he embarked from Ephesus.
18:22And having gone down unto Caesarea, having ascended and having greeted the assembly, he went down to Antioch.
18:23And having spent some time, he went forth, going through the Galatian and Phrygian region in order, staying up all the disciples.
18:24And a certain Jew, Apollos by name, an Alexandrian by race, a learned man, arrived in Ephesus, being mighty in the scriptures.
18:25This one was being instructed in the way of the Lord. And bubbling in spirit he spoke and taught exactly the things concerning the Lord, having knowledge of only the immersion of John.
18:26This one also began to speak openly in the synagogue. And Aquila and Priscilla having heard him, took him to themselves, and more exactly expounded to him the way of God.
18:27And he wanting to go through into Achaia, the brethren encouraging wrote to the disciples to gladly receive him; who having arrived engaged much with the ones believing through favor.
18:28For intensely with the Jews he thoroughly confuted in public, displaying through the scriptures Jesus to be the Christ.
