2 Chronicles 36

36:1And the people of the land took Jehoahaz son of Josiah, and they anointed him, and placed him as king instead of his father in Jerusalem.

36:2Jehoahaz was a son being twenty and three years old in his taking reign, and three months he reigned in Jerusalem.

36:3And the king of Egypt removed him to not give reign to him in Jerusalem, and put a tribute upon the land of a hundred talents of silver, and a talent of gold.

36:4And the king of Egypt placed Eliakim son of Josiah as king over Judah and Jerusalem, and converted his name to Jehoiakim. And Pharaoh Necho took Jehoahaz his brother, and brought him to Egypt.

36:5Jehoiakim was a son being twenty and five years old in his taking reign. And eleven years he reigned in Jerusalem. And he acted wickedly before the lord.

36:6And Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon ascended against him, and bound him in brass shackles, and took him into Babylon.

36:7And part of the items of the house of the lord he carried away unto Babylon, and he put them in his temple in Babylon.

36:8And the rest of the words of Jehoiakim, and all which he did, behold, these are written in the scroll of the words of the days of the kings of Israel and of Judah. And Jehoiachin his son reigned instead of him.

36:9Jehoiachin was a son being eight years old in his taking reign. And three months and ten days he reigned in Jerusalem. And he acted wickedly in the presence of the lord.

36:10And at the turn of the year king Nebuchadnezzar sent and brought him unto Babylon, with the desirable items of the house of the lord. And Zedekiah the brother of his father reigned over Judah and Jerusalem.

36:11Zedekiah was a son being twenty one years old in his taking reign, and eleven years he reigned in Jerusalem.

36:12And he did the wicked thing before the lord his God. And he did not feel shame from in front of Jeremiah the prophet, and from the mouth of the lord,

36:13in the annulling the things with king Nebuchadnezzar, in which he bound him by an oath according to God. And he hardened his neck, and he strengthened his heart to not return to the lord God of Israel.

36:14And all the honorable men of Judah, and the priests, and the people of the land multiplied to disregard good, to do wickedness according to the abominations of the nations; and they defiled the house of the lord in Jerusalem.

36:15And the lord God of their fathers sent to them by the hand of his prophets, ones rising up early, even sending his messengers, for he was sparing his people, and his sanctuary.

36:16And they were sneering at his messengers, and treating with contempt his words, and mocking among his prophets, until the rage of the lord ascended among his people until there was no cure.

36:17And he led against them the king of the Chaldeans, and he killed their young men by the broadsword in the house of his sanctuary. And he did not spare the young men. And their virgins he did not show mercy on, and their elders he took away -- whole he delivered up into their hands.

36:18And all the items of the house of God, the great and the small, and the treasures of the house of the lord, and all the treasures of the king, and of the great men. The whole he carried unto Babylon.

36:19And he burnt the house of the lord, and razed the wall of Jerusalem. And its palaces he burnt by fire, and every beautiful item he appointed for extinction.

36:20And he resettled the remaining ones in Babylon. And they were for him and his sons for manservants until the kingdom of the Medes,

36:21to fulfill the word of the lord through the mouth of Jeremiah, until the land favorably receives its Sabbaths; by observing the Sabbath all the days of its desolation, to observe the Sabbath in the fulfillment of seventy years.

36:22In the first year of Cyrus king of the Persians, after the fulfillment of the saying of the lord through the mouth of Jeremiah, the lord awakened the spirit of Cyrus king of the Persians. And he exhorted to proclaim in all his kingdom in writing, saying,

36:23Thus says Cyrus king of the Persians, to all the kingdoms of the earth, The lord God of the heaven gave to me; and he gave charge to me to build to him a house in Jerusalem in Judea. Who is there of you of all his people? The lord his God will be with him -- let him ascend!
