2 Chronicles 21

21:1And Jehoshaphat slept with his fathers, and he was entombed with his fathers in the city of David. And Jehoram his son reigned instead of him.

21:2And to him were brothers, sons of Jehoshaphat -- Azariah, and Jehiel, and Zechariah, and Michael, and Shephatiah; all these were sons of Jehoshaphat king of Judah.

21:3And their father gave to them many gifts -- silver, and gold, and shields, with cities being walled in Judah. But the kingdom he gave to Jehoram, for he was the first-born.

21:4And Jehoram rose over the kingdom of his father, and was strengthened, and he killed all his brothers by the broadsword, and indeed some of the rulers of Israel.

21:5His being thirty and two years old was Jehoram in his reigning, and eight years he reigned in Jerusalem.

21:6And he went in the way of the kings of Israel, as did the house of Ahab, for a daughter of Ahab was to him for a wife. And he did the wicked thing before the lord.

21:7And the lord did not want to utterly destroy the house of David on account of the covenant which he ordained with David, and as he said to him, to give him a lamp and to his sons all the days.

21:8In those days Edom revolted from under the hand of Judah, and they gave a king reign over themselves.

21:9And Jehoram set out with his rulers, and all his chariots, and all the cavalry, the one with him. And it came to pass that he arose by night and struck Edom, the one encircling him, and the rulers of the chariots.

21:10And Edom revolted from the hand of Judah until this day. Then Libnah revolted in that time from under his hand, for he abandoned the lord God of his fathers.

21:11Moreover he made the high places in the cities of Judah, and fornicated the ones dwelling in Jerusalem, and led Judah astray.

21:12And there came to him in writing words by Elijah the prophet, saying, Thus says the lord, the God of David your father, Because you did not go in the way of Jehoshaphat your father, and in the ways of Asa king of Judah,

21:13and went in the ways of the king of Israel, and fornicated Judah, and the ones dwelling in Jerusalem, as the house of Ahab fornicated, and also your brothers, sons of your father, the good ones over you, you killed.

21:14Behold, the lord shall strike you with a great calamity among your people, and among your sons, and among your wives, and among all your belongings;

21:15and you shall be in severe sicknesses in disease of your bellies, until of which time your innards should come forth from the sickness of days by days.

21:16And the lord roused the Philistines against Jehoram, and the Arabians, and the ones adjoining the Ethiopians.

21:17And they ascended against Judah, and overpowered it, and captured all the possessions which they found in the house of the king, and the houses of his sons, and his daughters. And there was not left to him a son except Jehoahaz the youngest of his sons.

21:18And after all these things the lord struck him in his belly with a sickness in which there is no healing.

21:19And it happened from days unto days, and as his time came in two days, there came forth his innards with his belly in his sickness. And he died in severe sicknesses, and his people did not make a funeral to him, nor a burning according to the burning of his fathers.

21:20He was thirty and two years old in his reigning, and eight years he reigned in Jerusalem. And he went in not high praise. And they entombed him in the city of David, and not in the tombs of the kings.
