1 Peter 2

2:1Having put aside then all evil, and all treachery, and hypocrisies, and envies, and all evil speakings,

2:2as newborn babes, long after the rational sincere milk! that by it you should grow;

2:3if indeed you tasted that the Lord is gracious.

2:4To whom coming forward as a living stone, indeed being rejected by men, but by God chosen, valued;

2:5also yourselves, as living stones, are being built up a spiritual house, a holy priesthood, to offer spiritual sacrifices, well-received to God through Jesus Christ.

2:6For it is contained in the scripture, Behold, I place in Zion a chosen valued cornering stone; and the one believing upon him, in no way shall be disgraced.

2:7To you then a stone of value -- to the ones believing; but to the ones disobeying, a stone which the ones building rejected, this one became for the head of the corner,

2:8and a stone of stumbling, and a rock causing offence, which they stumble against the word, being disobedient; to which also they were appointed.

2:9But you are a chosen race, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a people for procurement; so that you should publish the virtues of the one calling you from out of darkness into his wonderful light.

2:10The ones at some time or other not a people, but now are a people of God; the ones not being shown mercy, but now are shown mercy.

2:11Beloved, I appeal to you as sojourners and immigrants, to be at a distance from the fleshy desires, which soldier against the soul;

2:12having your behavior good among the nations; that in what they speak ill of you, as ones doing evil, that from having scrutinized the good works, they should glorify God in the day of visitation.

2:13Submit then to every human institution for the sake of the Lord! whether to king as being superior;

2:14or whether to governors as being sent by him for punishment indeed on ones doing evil, and high praise on ones beneficial.

2:15For so is the will of God, by doing good to halt the ignorance of foolish men;

2:16as free, and not having freedom as a covering of evil, but as bondmen of God.

2:17Honor all! Love the brotherhood! Fear God! Honor the king!

2:18Domestic servants -- being submitted with all fear to the masters, not only to the good and lenient, but also to the crooked.

2:19For this is favor, if through conscience of God anyone endures distress, suffering unjustly.

2:20For what fame if sinning and you endure being buffeted? But if doing good and suffering you endure, this is favorable with God.

2:21For this you were called, for also Christ suffered for us, leaving behind to us a pattern, that you should follow after his tracks;

2:22who did not sin, nor was there treachery found in his mouth;

2:23who being reviled did not return verbal abuse; when suffering did not threaten; but delivered himself up to the one judging justly;

2:24who himself bore our sins in his body upon the timber, that becoming dead to sins, we should live to the righteousness; of which by his stripe you were healed.

2:25For you were as sheep wandering; but are returned now unto the shepherd and overseer of your souls.
