Judges 12

12:1And the sons of Ephraim gathered together, and they came to Zaphon, and said to Jephthah, Why is it that you went to wage war against the sons of Ammon, and you did not call us to go with you? We will burn your house over you with fire.

12:2And Jephthah said to them, I was a man pleading, and my people, and the sons of Ammon humbled me exceedingly, and I yelled out to you, and you did not deliver me from out of their hand.

12:3And I saw that there was no one delivering, and I put my life in my hand, and I passed over to the sons of Ammon, and the lord delivered them over into my hand. And why did you ascend against me in this day to wage war against me?

12:4And Jephthah gathered together all the men of Gilead, and waged war against Ephraim. And the men of Gilead struck Ephraim; for the men coming through safe of Ephraim said, You are Gilead in the midst of Ephraim, and in the midst of Manasseh.

12:5And Gilead was first to take the ford of the Jordan of Ephraim. And it came to pass when the ones coming through safe of Ephraim said to them, We should pass over indeed! That the men of Gilead said to them, Are you not of Ephraim? And they said, We are not.

12:6Then they said to them, Say indeed, Stachys! And if he was not straightly able to speak thus, then they would take hold of them, and slay them at the ford of the Jordan. And they that fell from Ephraim in that time were forty and two thousand.

12:7And Jephthah judged Israel six years. Then Jephthah the Gileadite died, and he was entombed in his city Gilead.

12:8And Ibzan of Beth-lehem judged Israel after him.

12:9And there were to him thirty sons, and thirty daughters being sent out, and he brought in thirty wives for his sons from outside. And he judged Israel seven years.

12:10And Ibzan died, and he was entombed in Beth-lehem.

12:11And Elon the Zebulunite judged Israel after him, and he judged Israel ten years.

12:12And Elon the Zebulunite died, and was entombed in Aijalon in the land of Zebulun.

12:13And Abdon son of Hillel the Pirathonite judged Israel after him.

12:14And there were to him forty sons, and thirty sons of his sons being mounted upon seventy foals. And he judged Israel eight years.

12:15And Abdon the son of Hillel the Pirathonite died, and he was entombed in Pirathon in the land of Ephraim, in the mountain of Amalek.
