Jeremiah 24

24:1The lord showed to me two reed baskets of figs, being situated in front of the temple of the lord, after Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon resettled Jeconiah the son of Jehoiakim, king of Judah, and the rulers, and the craftsmen, and the bondmen, from out of Jerusalem, and led them into Babylon.

24:2The one reed basket was of exceedingly better figs as the early figs; and the other reed basket was of exceedingly bad figs which shall not be eaten because of their badness.

24:3And the lord said to me, What do you see, Jeremiah? And I said, Figs, the better figs are exceedingly better, and the bad ones exceedingly bad which cannot be eaten because of their badness.

24:4And came to pass the word of the lord to me saying,

24:5Thus says the lord God of Israel, As these better figs, so shall I recognize the Jews being resettled whom I have sent out of this place into the land of the Chaldeans for good.

24:6And I shall firmly fix my eyes upon them for good, and I shall restore them into this land. And I will rebuild them, and in no way demolish; and I will plant them, and in no way will I pluck them up.

24:7And I will give them a heart for them to know me, that I am the lord. And they will be to me for a people, and I will be to them for God. For they shall turn towards me with their entire heart.

24:8And as the bad figs which shall not be eaten because of their badness, thus says the lord, So will I deliver up Zedekiah king of Judah, and his great men, and the rest of Jerusalem being left behind in this land, and the ones dwelling in Egypt.

24:9And I will appoint them for being dispersed into all the kingdoms of the earth, and they will be for scorning, and for a parable, and for hatred, and for a curse in every place where I shall push them there.

24:10And I will send against them the famine, and the plague, and the sword, until whenever they should fail from the land which I gave to them, and to their fathers.
