Isaiah 29

29:1Woe city of Ariel, which David waged war. Gather together produce year by year! for you shall eat with Moab.

29:2For I will squeeze Ariel, and her strength and riches will be mine.

29:3And I will encircle as David upon you, and I will throw up a siege mound around you, and I will build, and I will set towers around you.

29:4And your words shall be abased unto the ground. And unto the ground your words shall go down. And your voice will be as the ones speaking out loud from out of the earth; and to the ground your voice shall weaken.

29:5And the riches of the impious will be as a cloud of dust from a wheel; and the multitude of the ones afflicting you will be as dust being borne about; and it will be immediate as a moment,

29:6by the lord of Hosts; for there will be a visitation with thunder, and earthquake, and a great sound, a blast being borne about, and a flame of fire devouring.

29:7And the riches of all the nations will be as ones dreaming in sleep, as many as march against Ariel, and all the ones soldiering against Jerusalem, and all the ones gathering together against her, and the ones afflicting her.

29:8And it shall be as the ones in sleep drinking and eating and rising up. the dream of them is vain, and in which manner the one thirsting and drinking shall dream, and rising up they still thirst, and his soul hoped in vain, so will be the riches of all the nations, as many as marched against mount Zion.

29:9Be loosened! Be amazed and be dizzy! Not from liquor nor from wine.

29:10For the lord has given you to drink a spirit of vexation. And he will close the eyelids of their eyes, and their prophets, and their rulers, the ones seeing the hidden things.

29:11And all these sayings shall be to you as the words of this scroll having a seal set upon it; which if they should give it to a man having knowledge of letters, saying, Read these things! Then he shall say, I am not able to read, for it is sealed.

29:12And this scroll will be given into the hands of a man not having knowledge of letters. And one shall say to him, Read this! And he shall say, I do not have knowledge of letters.

29:13And the lord said, this people approach unto me with their mouth, and by their lips they esteem me, but their heart is far off at a distance from me; and in vain they worship me, teaching the precepts and instructions of men.

29:14On account of this, behold, I shall proceed to transpose this people; and I will transpose them, and I will destroy the wisdom of the wise; and I will hide the understanding of the discerning.

29:15Woe to the ones deeply making plans, and not according to the lord. Woe to the ones making plans in secret. And their works shall be in darkness, and they shall say, Who has seen us, and who shall know us or what we do?

29:16Shall you not be considered as clay for the potter? Shall the thing shaped say to the one shaping, You did not shape me. Or the thing made by the one making it, You did not expertly make me?

29:17No longer a little while and Lebanon shall be transposed as the mountain of fruitful field; and the mountain of fruitful field shall be considered as a forest.

29:18And in that day deaf-mutes shall hear the words of the scroll; and the ones in darkness, and the ones in fog -- the eyes of the blind will see,

29:19and the poor shall exult because of the lord with gladness, and the ones despairing of men shall be filled up with gladness.

29:20The lawless one failed, and the proud one is destroyed, and the ones acting lawlessly concerning evil shall be utterly destroyed,

29:21even the ones causing men to sin by a word. And men shall make all the ones reproving at the gates to be considered for stumbling, for they bent away the just one by unjust acts.

29:22On account of this, thus says the lord concerning the house of Jacob, whom he separated from Abraham, Jacob shall not now be ashamed, nor now shall Israel change countenance.

29:23But whenever their children shall behold my works, because of me they shall sanctify my name, and they shall sanctify the holy one of Jacob, and they shall fear the God of Israel.

29:24And the ones wandering in the spirit shall know understanding, and the ones grumbling shall learn to obey, and the stuttering tongues shall learn to speak peace.
