3 John 1

1:1The elder, to Gaius the beloved, whom I love in truth.

1:2Beloved, concerning all things I make a vow for you to prosper and to be in health, as your soul prospers.

1:3For I rejoiced exceedingly of the brethren coming, and bearing witness of you in the truth, as you walk in truth.

1:4I have no greater joy than this, that I should hear of my children walking in truth.

1:5Beloved, do trusting what ever you should work among the brethren, and among the strangers,

1:6(the ones witnessing to the love of yours before the assembly), whom you shall do well having sent forward worthily of God.

1:7For on account of his name they went forth taking nothing from the nations.

1:8We then ought to accept such, that we should become fellow-workers in the truth.

1:9I wrote to the assembly, but the one enjoying being first of them -- Diotrephes, does not welcome us.

1:10On account of this, if I come, I will remind him the works which he does -- evil words prating against us. And not being sufficient with these, neither he himself welcomes the brethren, and the ones wanting to he restrains, and casts them out of the assembly.

1:11Beloved, do not imitate evil, but the good! The one doing good is of God; but the one doing evil has not seen God.

1:12To Demetrius witness is borne by all, and by the truth itself; and we also bear witness, and you know that our witness is true.

1:13Many things I have to write, but I do not want by ink and reed to write to you.

1:14But I hope immediately to see you, and mouth to mouth we shall speak. Peace to you. The friends greet you. Greet the friends by name!
