2 Kings 3
3:1And Jehoram son of Ahab reigned in Israel in Samaria in the eighteenth year of Jehoshaphat king of Judah. And he reigned twelve years.
3:2And he did the wicked thing in the eyes of the lord, only not as his father and his mother. And he removed the monuments of Baal which his father made.
3:3Except in the sins of Jeroboam son of Nebat, who led Israel into sin, he cleaved to; he did not abstain from it.
3:4And Mesha king of Moab was a shepherd, and he restored to the king of Israel a hundred thousand lambs, and a hundred thousand rams with fleece.
3:5And it came to pass after the dying of Ahab, Moab annulled allegiance with the king of Israel.
3:6And king Jehoram went forth in that day from out of Samaria, and he numbered Israel.
3:7And he went and sent to Jehoshaphat king of Judah, saying, The king of Moab annulled allegiance with me. Shall you go with me unto Moab for war? And he said, I will go; likened to you, likened to me; as your people, so my people; as your horses, so my horses.
3:8And he said, What way shall we ascend? And he said, The way of the wilderness of Edom.
3:9And the king of Israel went, and the king of Judah, and the king of Edom. And they encircled a journey of seven days. And there was no water for the camp, and for the cattle, the ones at their feet.
3:10And the king of Israel said, O that the lord called these three kings to deliver them up into the hand of Moab.
3:11And Jehoshaphat said to him, Is there not here a prophet of the lord, that we should seek anxiously the lord by him? And answered one of the servants of the king of Israel, and said, Elisha son of Shaphat is here, who poured water upon the hands of Elijah.
3:12And Jehoshaphat said, The word of the lord is with him. And the king of Israel went down to him, and Jehoshaphat king of Judah, and the king of Edom.
3:13And Elisha said to the king of Israel, What is there between me and you? Go to the prophets of your father, and to the prophets of your mother. And the king of Israel said to him, Is it that the lord calls these three kings to deliver them into the hands of Moab?
3:14And Elisha said, As the lord of the forces lives, in whom I stand before him, that if it were not the face of Jehoshaphat king of Judah which I receive, shall I have looked upon you or beheld you, no.
3:15And now bring to me one for strumming! And it came to pass as the one strumming strummed, that the hand of the lord came upon him.
3:16And he said, Thus says the lord, Make this dry stream cistern upon cistern.
3:17For thus says the lord, You shall not see wind, and you shall not see rain; but this dry stream shall be filled with water, and you shall drink, you and your possessions, and your cattle.
3:18But it is a light thing in the eyes of the lord. And I will deliver up Moab into your hands.
3:19And you shall strike every fortified city, and every choice city; and every good tree you shall throw down, and all springs of water you shall obstruct, and every good portion of land you shall make useless with stones.
3:20And it came to pass in the morning of the ascending of the sacrifice, that behold, waters came from out of the way of Edom, and the earth was filled of the waters.
3:21And all Moab heard that the kings ascended to wage war against them, and they yelled out from all sides girding on the belt, and went forward, and they stood at the border.
3:22And they rose early in the morning, and the sun rose upon the waters. And Moab beheld the waters right opposite fiery red as blood.
3:23And they said, This is blood of a broadsword. The kings did combat, and each man struck his neighbor. And now, the spoils are for Moab.
3:24And they entered into the camp of Israel. And Israel rose up and struck Moab. And they fled in front of them; and they entered going and beating Moab.
3:25And they demolished the cities, and every good portion of land each man tossed his stone, and they filled it. And every spring of water they obstructed, and every good tree they threw down unto leaving behind the stones of the wall being demolished. And the slingers encircled and struck it.
3:26And the king of Moab beheld that the battle overpowered him; and he took with himself seven hundred men unsheathing the broadsword to cut through the king of Edom; but they were not able.
3:27And he took his first-born son whom he gave reign instead of him, and offered him as a whole burnt-offering upon the wall. And came to pass a great repentance in Israel. And they departed from him, and they returned to the land.
