1 Kings 17

17:1And Elijah the Tishbite said, the one from Tishbon of Gilead, to Ahab, As the lord lives, the God of Israel, in whom I stand before him, Shall there be these years dew and rain, no, but unless it be through the word of my mouth.

17:2And came to pass the saying of the lord to Elijah.

17:3Go from here according to the east, and hide at the rushing stream Cherith, to the one upon the face of the Jordan!

17:4And it will be from out of the rushing stream you shall drink water, and to the crows I shall give charge to nourish you there.

17:5And Elijah went and did according to the saying of the lord. And he settled by the rushing stream Cherith upon the face of the Jordan.

17:6And the crows brought to him bread loaves and meat in the morning, and bread loaves and meat in the afternoon. And from out of the rushing stream he drank water.

17:7And it came to pass after many days, that the rushing stream dried up, for there was no rain upon the earth.

17:8And the word of the lord came to pass to Elijah, saying,

17:9Rise up, and go into Sarepta of the Sidonians! and you shall dwell there. Behold, I have given charge there for a widow woman to nourish you.

17:10And he rose up and went into Sarepta. And he came unto the gate-house of the city. And behold, there a widow woman was collecting together wood. And Elijah yelled out after her, and said to her, Take indeed for me a little water into a container, and I shall drink.

17:11And she went to take, and Elijah yelled out after her, and said to her, Give indeed to me the morsel of bread in your hand, and I will eat.

17:12And the woman said, As the lord your God lives, If there is to me a cake baked in hot ashes -- good? but I have only as much as a handful of flour in the pitcher, and a little olive oil in the jar. And behold, I shall collected together two sticks, and I shall enter and make it for myself and my children, and we shall eat and die.

17:13And Elijah said to her, Be of courage! enter and do according to your word! But make for me from there a small cake baked in hot ashes at first, and bring it forth to me! and to yourself you shall make and to your children at last.

17:14For thus says the lord God of Israel, The pitcher of flour shall not fail, and the jar of olive oil shall not have less, until the days of the giving by the lord the rain upon the earth.

17:15And the woman went and did according to the word of Elijah; and she gave to him, and he ate, and she, and her children.

17:16And the pitcher of flour failed not, and the jar of olive oil had not less, according to the saying of the lord, which he spoke by the hand of Elijah.

17:17And it came to pass after these things that the son of the woman who was the lady of the house became ill, and his illness was fortified very much, until there was not left behind in him a breath.

17:18And she said to Elijah, What is it to me and to you, O man of God, for you to enter to me, to call to mind my iniquities and to kill my son?

17:19And Elijah said to the woman, Give me your son! And he took him from out of her bosom, and brought him into the upper room in which he settled there, and he rested him upon his bed.

17:20And Elijah yelled out to the lord, and he said, O lord my God, also indeed the widow with whom I dwell with her, have you inflicted evil to kill her son?

17:21And he breathed into the boy three times, and he called upon the lord, and he said, O lord my God, return indeed the life of this boy to him!

17:22And it became so, and the life of the boy returned to him. And the boy yelled out.

17:23And he led him from the upper room into the house, and he gave it to his mother. And Elijah said, See! your son lives.

17:24And the woman said to Elijah, Behold, I know that you are a man of God, and the word of the lord in your mouth is true.
