Many people may e wondering if this Coronavirus outbreak is part of the end times of Revelation in the Bible. Fortunately, we can be very clear that no, the Coronavirus is clearly not a direct element of the end times. This isn’t to say with any certainty that the end times aren’t near, because they very well may be. However, the Coronavirus is not consistent with Revelation and the end times, so the likelihood this is the end of the world is quite low, and improbable based on the events of the Bible.
The fact is that there is no plague that is part of the Revelation end times at this stage. The beginning of the end times begins with the rise of the Antichrist, who will be the literal embodiment of Satan, and will rule the entire, global, unified world. It’s possible that the Antichrist could even rise from the disaster caused by this Coronavirus pandemic, but what you can be sure about is that a third of the world’s population is not likely to die from the Coronavirus, because this is not part of the Revelation plagues.
In fact, many clearly verifiable events occur long before the first end times plagues in Revelation. Global war and mass death through wars will happen before any plagues from the end times happen. So, if the end times are to happen soon, we will have far worse things to worry about than the Coronavirus, before any global plagues happen. It’s possible that sometime in the future the Coronavirus could return as part of the end time plagues, but that will not happen before many other Revelation events happen and much wars things occur.
Here are a couple infographics descrpbing the end times. The first infographic shows the overall timeline, and the second one shows more in detail about the seals, trumpets, and plagues.
We can see here that the order of events at the beginning of the end times are as follows:
- Antichrist rises
- War (Daniel 11:22)
- Covenant signed with Israel
It’s then that the seals happen.
We can see here that the first plague of the end times is in the fourth seal, described in Revelation 6:7-8 and Matthew 24:7. The first four seals following the introductory events described above are:
- Seal 1: Religious deception (Revelation 6:1-2, Matthew 24:4-5)
- Seal 2: War (Revelation 6:3-4, Matthew 24:6-7)
- Seal 3: Famine (Revelation 6:5-6, Matthew 24:7)
- Seal 4: Disease Epidemics (Revelation 6:7-8, Matthew 24:7)
As you can see, there are no global plagues of Revelations until a number of major, global events which are very clear and easy to identify. Because of this, the current Coronavirus pandemic is not one of the disease epidemics of Revelation.
As long as there is no Antichrist global ruler, unified One World Order, and another, most horrific World War, we won’t have to be concerned that the Coronavirus is an end-times plague.
This isn’t to say that the Coronavirus isn’t deadly – it can be, for some individuals. The middle ages saw the Black Death, which was the Bubonic Plague, which killed around a third of all the people in Europe. So, it is not unprecedented to see a massive plague that kills a large number of people, so do not be naive. Hopefully, that does not occur, but fortunately, we are far more medically advanced than we were in the middle ages. We know about hand washing, airborne pathogens, and have medical technologies to help cure disease and prevent the spread of a disease.
Coronavirus is certainly a serious pandemic, but it is most dangerous to elderly people who are already sick with some disease or have compromised immune systems. To the general public, there is a low fatality rate, but you should still be careful to avoid exposure. Do this by ordering online, limiting the places you shop, stay 10 feet or more away from anyone who appear to be sick, avoid contact with strangers, and work from home to prevent the spread of the disease.
There is no need to buy mass quantities of toilet paper as many are doing, fighting in stores over toilet paper. This is definitely not the Christlike way. Have faith in God, and be righteous. It may be prudent to get some extra food supplies, but only to limit your amount of shopping, and you don’t need to go into a bunker for the next 10 years living on ramen noodles and canned tuna. You don’t need to flee to the woods and live in a tent, the power is probably not going out. Just be prudent, be safe, and avoid crowded areas, and work from home if your job allows it.
What we can be sure of, fortunately, is that the Coronavirus is not one of the end-times plagues, at least not at this time in history. It’s not the end of the world yet, so please continue to live your lives, pray daily, pray for the world, pray for the sick (from home), read the Bible, and grow in your relationship with God. It’s probably not the end times yet, but do be on your guard, for the end could come soon, but probably not because of Coronavirus.
